Some of the folks at USA’s Psych are big fans of the offbeat, early ‘90s drama, Twin Peaks — such big fans that, after their well-received “Dual Spires” homage in December, they might pay homage to David Lynch’s surreal soap a second time.
A pair of rare, offset lithographic prints by David Lynch are currently on auction. What makes these pencil drawings part of film history is that they helped the debuting filmmaker fund Eraserhead back in 1973. They were sold cheaply so David could purchase more film stock for his cult movie in the making.
David Lynch's latest musical venture is officially out today on deluxe double vinyl, deluxe CD and as MP3 download. Both the original version of the catchy dance record "Good Day Today" and the darker "I Know" are included, as well as remixes by the hands of Underworld, Boys Noize, Diskjokke, Sasha, Simon Ratcliffe (one half of Basement Jaxx) and Jon Hopkins.
Fire (walk with me) is a 9-channel video installation by Sharon Bradley, showing continously looped establishing shots of the fireplaces in Twin Peaks. The Canadese video artist was inspired by "The Yule Log" television program which airs around Christmas since 1966 and shows a yule log burning in the fireplace for two up to four hours, to a soundtrack of classic Christmas music and without commercial interruption.
A "sweded" movie is a low-budget recreation of a popular film often made by fans and using limited material and resources. So Fabien Chombart, a David Lynch fan from Île-de-France took his camcorder and shot his own version of the feature film, Fire Walk With Me.
Welcome to Welcome to Twin Peaks dot com!
What better day to launch this site than David Lynch's 65th birthday? Happy birthday, Mr. Lynch! May life bring you many more years, works of art and chocolate bunnies!
The original idea behind Welcome to Twin Peaks was to showcase the many photos I've shot at the actual filming locations in Washington state. But since even after 20 years my Twin Peaks obsession is still uncontrollable, and I have a wealth of Twin Peaks related discoveries to share, this site will become much more than a slideshow. If anything, it will show you that Twin Peaks is still very much out there.
A few months ago, the controversial Vice magazine did a fashion shoot inspired by Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Meet Laura Palmer (Amelia Gilliam) and Donna Hayward (Brittany Nola) as seen through the lens of Jonathan Leder and styled by Annette Lamothe-Ramos.
Except for the guns and a Donna that's too much of an Audrey, I think they set the mood quite right. Hell, there's even a picnic scene!
Twin Peaks-obsessed electro-pop producer Bright Light Bright Light (Rod Thomas) has made a cover of Julee Cruise's "Falling". A fan living near the filming locations in the Snoqualmie area heard the cover, went out to shoot some moody footage of the Great Northern hotel and its falls, Ronnette's bridge, Mt. Si, the motel from Fire Walk With Me, the Twin Peaks High School, the Double R, among other places... and sent everything to the up-and-coming UK producer.
