We’ve been anticipating the re-release of The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer by Jennifer Lynch ever since Mark Frost tweeted about it last June. Today’s the day “the astonishing New York Times bestseller” hits the book stores for a second time since 1990, but it also debuts as an eBook for both Kindle and Nook. Same diary, same words and the same missing pages, but a brand new cover and, more interestingly, added forewords by Twin Peaks creators Mark Frost and David Lynch. You’ll have to buy the book to read them in full, but here are my two favorite quotes:
“Some dreams survive.”
-Mark Frost
“Let’s get some pie and coffee and enjoy reading this secret account of a life -the life of a girl who lived near the dark woods… in a town called Twin Peaks.”
-David Lynch
» Purchase the paperback or Kindle version of The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer here (US) or here (UK).
» You can also win one of five copies signed by Mark Frost by tweeting why Twin Peaks still matters to you and including the hashtag #TwinPeaks. Do this before noon on Wednesday, December 7, 2011!
No official word yet on the audio book version by Sheryl Lee herself, an idea by Michael that we pitched to Mark Frost.
I think this is a great thing, and good to have access to a Kindle edition (though not currently available in the UK). I’ve always been a massive fan of Scott Frost’s equivalent title for Dale Cooper and hope that this is successful enough to warrant a re-release of that.
I can’t wait to read it! I know my parents are giving it to me for Christmas. YAY!
