There is a difference between a fan and a sycophant.  They are sycophants.  Sycophants are people who are willing to get fucked raw and never achieve climax.  Personally, I like happy endings.

Bad Coop is dead. BOB is destroyed. Dougie is back with Janie-E and Sonny Jim. Most of the folks we cared about in TP are alive and kind of well. Cooper and Diane escaped torment in Lodge-land, at least, and went off to solve the main mystery of the show. Sounds like a lot of "happy endings" to me for this show, considering!

The cosmology was never going to have a neat ending. I'd have hated it if it did.

---I'm not a "sycophant" - but I'm not getting how you can want and like "happy endings" and be a fan of anything David has ever done. I can't think of a single "happy ending" in any of his films- The original Twin Peaks ending was far from happy, with the emergence of Bad Cooper. The ending of "Wild at Heart"--? That was a basically a mocking send up of happy endings.-- I'm typing only because your post jumped out at me so much. I don't get what you mean about happy endings in relation to what David Lynch does.--

Yep! I just started reading old Ep. 17/18 threads, and this is exactly a thought I had. We got lots of happy endings. Cooper's good karma brought good to Sonny Jim and Janey E as well as too the Mitchums; he shed light on the organized crime infiltrating Lucky 7 Insurance; and most touchingly of all, he saved "Mrs. Jackpots" by luck and she reunited with her son.

Also this season, we saw that Andy and Lucy were together with a son they love; we saw that Ben Horne had some moral repentance; Audrey, maybe, broke free some how; and most pleasing to this fan: Norma and Ed planned to get married, for real this time.

Lynch gave lots of treats to the fans. But if there was a moral to the story, it was that we can't expect to go back and see everything fixed; we can't get back to the one perfect thing that we think we want; if we go through what's necessary to get to it (like jumping through timelines or whatever) then the old problem (Sarah Palmer) just won't be there to be fixed anymore (instead, we'll just find Chalfonts and Tremonds). I'm still not sure what the scream was at the end. Nevertheless, we got lots  of happy endings this season.

We got closure on many of the original TP story lines.  The fate of Laura Palmer and Dale Cooper is still up for grabs.  It's a glass half full scenario.

Yeah, this is a great point for anyone bummed by the ending. However, I can already sense a Debbie Downer replying, arguably, ". . .but those happy endings were erased by Coop trying to save Laura." ? Key word arguably (I'm being preemptive).

There were truly a lot of memorable moments in S3.  I just wish that the finale included some of those elements in a clearer way.

Thanks guys!  I feel quite accomplished.  I think the TP deputy that is the most like me is Hawk.  I identify with native American cultures, and I always thought Hawk went about his job with a sensitive spirituality that I appreciated.  Besides, he was my favorite.
