(*Asterisk means they’re returning cast members)
What does the * mean against some of the names?
Seems pretty fair to assume it means returning cast from the original series.
I’m guessing returning cast members.
Pretty sure it means they are a returning character.
Judging from the names, it probably means that the actors have appeared either in the tv-series or Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.
They are returning cast members (yay!)
original cast members
recurring names
Sharon Van Etten and Eddie Vedder – nice! Curious to see how well they act.
Michael Ontkean is a notable absence.
and no Leo…
He declined and claims retirement. His role was reportedly recast with Robert Forster playing Truman instead.
Catherine E. Coulson* is included. So does that mean Lynch recorded some new material with her?
Hoping so! Would be nice if the new series was dedicated to her. Or at least an episode she is in. I was wondering if she was unable to film anything if they’d have the log come back anyway. How great would that be? Happy she’s back, of course.
I wonder to whom the log will be passed. Maybe Donna?
3 people missing that is a little concerning – Annie (Heather Graham), Donna (LFB or Moira Kelly) and Catherine Martell.
No Leo or Dick either.
What a pity for no Dick…
Catherine Martell is dead:( but why Sherrif Truman is not on the cast ?
Sheriff Truman was reportedly recast with Robert Forster playing the role instead.
No Heather Graham?? Annie seemed rather important at the end. Or was she really dead?
BUT WHERE IS MICHAEL J. ANDERSON????
This is by far the biggest omission. Hopefully he does end up in at at some point.
Michael J. Anderson claims on his Facebook page that they “low balled” him salary wise to return. He says he tried to negotiate, but couldn’t come to terms. He doesn’t give any numbers as to what they offered him.
Personally, I think he made a mistake. His acting career isn’t exactly “on fire” right now and returning to the Twin Peaks revival probably would have re-ignited his career.
Isn’t Russ Tamblyn dead?
I thought he has passed away too, but a quick search of teh interwebs shows that although he had a health scare, he is indeed still alive.
Yes, Russ Tamblyn is alive and well. He had heart surgery in October, 2014, but has since recouped. Good to see him returning. He’s 81 years old.
His buddy from West Side Story is also back, Richard Beymer, in the Twin Peaks revival.
INSANE
HARRY GOAZ!!!!!!!!!!
I’m hoping Deputy Andy is now Sheriff Andy… 🙂
some names must be held off
no way Heather Graham aint in it
I doubt it. They wouldn’t spoil the fact Ray Wise was in it and not Healther Graham
Huge cast!
Yeah, that surprises me. There’s going to be an awful lot going on in that little town. I hope the “cast of thousands” doesn’t end up messing with the uniquely intimate vibe of TP.
No Lara Flynn Boyle or Moira Kelly?
SO WHO IS GOING TO BE DONNA HEYWARD??
Also, who’s betting Harry Dean Stanton will not be playing his FIRE WALK WITH ME character? Isaak could have returned and Sunderland could’ve too, but I’m betting this movie pretty much ignores all that stuff.
Damn was hoping for Bowie. I knew the chances were nil. Would love if they used the deleted scenes to cut him into present time. Could very easily be done if he was time traveling…
And the fact that he died.
(even though I hate Hank)
no Hank??
He probably got himself shanked in prison. No great loss, IMO.
Well, what do you know? The Secret History proved me right…
Also, if they were going to hide ONE cast member from this list, it would certainly be HEATHER GRAHAM. She is part of one of the longest and famous cliffhangers in TV history. Do you really think they are going to spoil it in a press release?
As for Bowie, I wasn’t expecting him in this, but it really would have been cool if they would have taken his deleted scenes and put him in a brief scene with the current aged cast. They could have very easily have done it, and it would make perfect sense as he is a time traveler and hence wouldn’t have aged. I hope Lynch can somehow many use of this unique opportunity.
Maybe they recast for an older Annie? But if the only Dale out there is a Bob/Dale running around, then he left Annie behind and she’s long gone maybe.
But isn’t anybody think that’s there’s a lot of actors from other movies on here? Does anyone remember the “One Thousand Angels” rumor that maybe Lynch wanted to tie some Lost Highway stuff to Twin Peaks after FWWM?
Not sure why they would have to recast when Heather Graham looks dynamite. My guess is they are keeping it a secret…
It wouldn’t shock me if they tied in Mulholland Drive to Twin Peaks. They were originally supposed to be part of the same universe & Naomi Watts is back…
I was wondering this, too.
If they’re shooting footage in Paris’s Club Silencio, I’d say that’s a pretty good bet.
Could you elaborate on that “One Thousand Angels” rumour? I remember reading on Wikipedia that Lynch said Lost Highway was “in the Twin Peaks universe”, but I could never find any real source for the claim, and the line has since been removed. The idea of shared universes seems a bit pop for Lynch’s sensibilities, in any case.
He did for an interview in the book “Lynch on Lynch”. Specifically he said that Mystery Man is definitely from the same “world” as the Black Lodge inhabitants.
David Duchovny! Holy crap – DENISE!
Hmm. Walter Olkewicz (aka Jacques Renault) is in? They must plan on doing some seriously weird things with flashbacks and time, which of course they’d have to do with Ray Wise, too. Not that Leland being dead stopped him from appearing in the Black Lodge, of course.
I do hope for a surprise Michael Anderson appearance, though.
RIP Log Lady
Trent Reznor.
No Heather Graham is weird…but no Lara Flynn Boyle either??!?
Sorry about the weird picture, thought I was uploading an avatar. But really, Donna is a strange omission.
Nice pic.
Down boy.
I have a theory Ashley Judd is going to be Donna Hayward. She’d be perfect for the role.
Recent photos of Lara Flynn Boyle show her having gained a lot of weight and is hardly recognizable. That could have influenced her decision not to return.
Lara Flynn Boyle sorry but she looks terrible today:(
Lara Flynn Boyle not returning is not a surprise at all. She didn’t even return for Fire Walk With Me, and rumor has it that she was fairly disruptive during the second season of the show. (She was dating Kyle MacLaughlin at the time and apparently pressured him into pressuring the writers to get rid of the Cooper/Audrey love arc because Lara was jealous of Sherilyn Fenn and the attention she was getting on the show.)
In any case, it’s no surprise to see that she isn’t returning.
Don’t have Showtime, not gonna get Showtime. I will purchase it on Blu-Ray when it comes out, will make a nice addition to my Blu-Ray set of the TV series and FWWM. But what to do to see it when it comes out and no cable? My Log tells me some ideas. And my toaster is making fun of me!
You would seriously wait another year to see? Not me, I don’t care how it comes out and at what cost. The wait is over.
You might be able to get it via Amazon Streaming. That’s how I’m probably going to watch it.
Very excited about Laura Dern and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Also pleased to see Catherine E Coulson as I was worried her scenes may not have aired.
What about Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean) and Josie Packard?
Josie is dead.
Some would even say, dead as a doorknob…
More like a drawer knob… 🙂
Michael Onkean was offered to return, but he turned it down. He’s retired from acting and living comfortably in Hawaii.
Robert Forster is taking over his role.
It makes me sad:( Michael was great as Harry.
Over the moon at the returns, especially Ray Wise, David Duchovny, Miguel Ferrer, and Lynch himself.
As for the new cast, some interesting names. Trying to imagine where they would fit in. Also, Tim Roth would make an awesome BOB…
I’m guessing Trent Reznor
Exactly on BOB… Tim Roth, John Savage? Outside chance? Who could it be?
Roth cxertainly has the acting chops to pull it off and could have the look, too. He can be downright predatory and sinister at times, in his various roles, so that’s where my money is going 😀
Heather Graham could still appear as a ‘special guest’. Maybe this is just the regular cast and does not include ‘special guest’ cameos that may well include some of those ommitted. Or is that the sound of me clutching at straws?
It wouldn’t surprise me if Cooper/Bob killed Annie & we’ll find out about it in Mark Frost’s book. There’s NO WAY 25 years went by without some major plot points being resolved. I was hoping for a Brad Dourif Bob. Also wishing Jurgen Prochnow was on the list.
My theory is either than Dale/BOB killed Annie or that she escaped him and returned to the convent.
Robert Knepper is brilliantly creepy in everything, no one will replace BOB but he’d play evil brilliantly.
NO VAN DYKE PARKS!!!!!
I cringed at Michael Cera, but Laura Dern, Balthazar Getty, and so many original cast members more than make up for it.
So we go thru all names and see which face resembles bob ?
I miss kiefer sutherland and Chris Isaak !!!! where is chester Desmond ?!??
Piper Laurie???
Seriously bummed about this one…
I wish they had put the character names next to the retuning cast actors. So which old characters are returning?
I was secretly hoping Robyn Lively would return as the new Mayor Milford.
That would be fantastic! Maybe her rapping co-star from Teen Witch can be Vice Mayor.
Since Lynch has previously stated that Twin Peaks and Lost Highway take place in the same universe, do yah think Balthazar Getty will be playing Pete Dayton? I doubt it…but it’d be damn cool.
Why is Jim Belushi of all people in it?
That is an interesting choice. Maybe he’ll play a Lodge spirit?
Very happy with all the comebacks (GORDON COLE, BABY). Sad for Truman, Josie, Leo and Man From Another Place. Michael Cera? Not sure how he looks today, but he’d be a funny son for Andy and Lucy. No clue how it all will work, no clue about the history, but insanely excited for this. Welcome back, Twin Peaks.
I hope Gordon Cole has retired and married a certain waitress from the Double R Diner… 🙂
I’m confused, this Scott Coffey guy is listed with the asterisk, but he wasn’t in the original series or FWWM. So I went to his Imdb page and found out that he was in Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway and Rabbits! Weird.
Laura Dern and Jennifer Jason Leigh! YES! Curious to see Francesca Eastwood in this, since she’s just getting her acting career off the ground. So many of the new cast members have that similar look. Amanda Seyfried, Francesca Eastwood, Sky Ferreira, Sara Paxton…
Is Badalamenti doing the music?
Yes, I believe that was confirmed here several months ago. it wouldn’t be TP without a Badalamenti score.
Ona related note, Julee Cruise is on the list too. Yay!

Good job !
Scott Coffey was in Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive, but not Twin Peaks.
Very excited that TP3 may bring in elements from Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive. Naomi Watts’s character was certainly heading for the Black Lodge.
How do you do Twin Peaks without The Man From Another Place? He’s the most iconic image of the show! Highly disappointed if he’s not part of this.
Well that’s a huge amount of Cast Members there. :O I’m so pleased that Richard Beymer, Sherilyn Fenn and David Patrick Kelly are in the cast list. Horne’s were my ultimate favourites!
In the new comers list I’m most excited about Richard Chamberline, Monica Bellucci, Naomi Watts, Madeline Zima and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
I’m hoping that we see Johnny Horne again. Something could have been done with that character, especially with Lodge inhabitants tending to cause serious mental trauma to their hosts.
No Billy Zane, either. Looks like Audrey might be carrying that torch for her “special agent” after all…
Oh, my God! Why Monica Bellucci? I’m italian. She’s not a good actress!
And she’s so lucky to be in new Twin Peaks… Hope that the role shr will play is that of a mute woman…
😉
From Italy with love!
Domenico
Why no Leo, Eric De Rae?
I’m excited that Carlton Les Russell aka The Jumping Man is back!!!!
michael cera as BOB?!
I’m not sure how how I feel about all these big names being brought into the series…
I knew Audrey was coming back, but I’ll be so happy to see SHERILYN FENN in that green and brown font again. Her diner dance is still one of my favorite scenes in all of the film/T.V. I’ve seen on screen so far. #NoAudreyNoPeaks.
Where is Windom Earle?
Although the cast list is incredible, the real intrigue is in the crew…
– Angelo Badalamenti will of course provide the score. Looking forward to hearing the new material.
– Duwayne Dunham returns as editor, a key role – who else will know so much about the Twin Peaks universe?
– Ruth de Jong is production designer. She has worked on many of PT Anderson’s films, many of which are period films, suggesting that there may be period details (the 50s aesthetic) and even flashbacks, and it’ll be really stunning.
– Peter Deming is the DoP. He was DoP on Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway. This reinforces the suggestion that there could be a link between these films and Twin Peaks season 3, at least tonally in the look and feel.
Very excited!
Where the hell are Piper Laurie and Eric Da Re??????
I didn’t except Lara Flynn Boyle or Joan Chen which is fine, but those other 2 definitely needed to come back!
Would like to see James Roday in the new series. Even as just a dead body. LOL. He did the Dual Spires parody on Psych.
I think Monica Bellucci will play Donna Hayward. Jennifer Jason Leigh will probably play Annie.
Remember folks, to all those concerned at casting choices David Lynch has a rep for really bringing out unique performances from his actors, of being a real ‘actors director’. That”s why so many are eager to work with him, and keep on working for him. I have every faith in his transmutational powers in this respect.
Even Billy Ray Cyrus, man!
So when it comes to Michael Cera, an actor usually typecast, expect perhaps the unexpected. And this isn’t just a Scott Pilgrim fan talking, either.
So, so thrilled at the crew list, by the way. So immeasurably reassuring to read.
