Nico Blackheart is a young, San Francisco-based singer songwriter making 80’s-influenced electropop. As a Halloween tribute to the world of Twin Peaks, he wrote a catchy song from Laura Palmer‘s perspective. Although the pop melody makes “Fire Walk With Me” easy to digest, its lyrics (see below) are quite dark and include some obvious Twin Peaks references (“It’s happening again, it’s happening again…”). The song will be featured on Nico Blackheart‘s upcoming third album, “Samurai Chatter.”
Here’s the video, a montage of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me footage, and as always, please leave your feedback in the comments.
Rain falls every day in my mind, I can’t wait to escape to another time
And when we meet again, you won’t even recognize me
Geography shifts as you walk by, memories flash like a twisted rope in time
You won’t even see me coming
Fire walk with me, I want an escape from this reality
I don’t even know where I’m going but I know that I’m never coming back to my hometown
Meanwhile you’ll be waiting for me, I’ll be stepping toward the future but I’m looking back
So I’ll cycle back to you through time as I make up for the night walking through the fire
Ancient sadness plagues my life, why can’t you rely on another girl?
Ooh, I’m waiting for you to leave me like you should
I turn corners with precaution when I’m walking alone in the night
I think I see you, but I don’t want to know for sure
Fire walk with me, I want an escape from this reality
I don’t even know where I’m going but I know that I’m never coming back to my hometown
Meanwhile you’ll be waiting for me, I’ll be stepping toward the future but I’m looking back
So I’ll cycle back to you through time as I make up for the night walking through the fire
Fire walk with me, can’t you hear me screaming through the night?
I am waiting for the sign that I can come back to life, but for now I am in the fire
Now now now is the time, walk walk walk through the fire
It’s happening again, it’s happening again
