While David Lynch is in Los Angeles tweaking Twin Peaks to perfection, his name will be heard all around Austin, Texas, for the next seven days. Behold, an overview of the South by Southwest (SXSW) events every David Lynch fan in the vicinity of ATX should line up for. Preferably starting today.
Lucky (World Premiere)
MAR 11, 2017 | 3:15PM – 4:43PM
John Carroll Lynch’s directorial debut follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist, played by Harry Dean Stanton, having outlived (and out smoked) his contemporaries, as he comes to terms with his own mortality and searches for ever elusive enlightenment.
Harry Dean Stanton finally gets another leading role —2018, please give this man a long overdue Oscar— and his character’s best friend (Howard) is played by none other than real life pal David Lynch.
David Lynch: The Art Life
MAR 13, 2017 | 12:00PM – 1:30PM
Jon Nguyen’s slow-paced and intimate documentary is probably the closest you’ll get to spending 90 minutes with David Lynch in his atelier. Watch these short clips to get an idea of what to expect.
