David Lynch Interview Project Celebrates 15th Anniversary With HD Release

Explore the human connection through the eyes of David Lynch Interview Project, a 20,000-mile road trip through the United States.

Commemorating the 15th anniversary of its initial launch on June 1, 2009 over at interviewproject.davidlynch.com, all 120 episodes of David Lynch Interview Project will be re-released in HD in the summer of 2024.

A web-series created by his son Austin Lynch (Gray House) and Jason S (David Lynch: The Art Life, and hours of behind-the-scenes footage of Twin Peaks: The Return), and with music by Dean Hurley, David Lynch describes Interview Project as “a 20,000 mile road trip over 70 days across and back the United States … where people have been found and interviewed.”

Imagine The Straight Story meets Humans of New York, where small-town America reflects on questions like what their dreams were as a child, if they have any regrets, or when they first experienced death.

“There was no plan, really,” David Lynch continues in the original trailer. “The team found the people driving along the roads, going into bars, going into different locations, and there they were. The people told their story. It’s so fascinating to look and listen to people.”

David Lynch Interview Project Summer 2024

This 2024 re-release offers a unique opportunity to discover or revisit the raw, unfiltered stories that paint a vivid portrait of American life. By presenting them in high definition, the project not only preserves but also enhances the authenticity and emotional depth of each story. Even though David Lynch was not behind the lens, Interview Project reflects his unparalleled ability to find beauty in the mundane and the profound in the everyday. Just saw the announcement today and see they must have been pulled already for some reason because all there are are a handful of shorts. A huge bummer because I’ve been want to watch this series for years!
