Kyle MacLachlan Responds To His Golden Globes Nomination For Twin Peaks On Twitter

It is happening again! 17 years after Kyle MacLachlan took home a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks, the actor has been nominated again.

Earlier this morning, Kyle MacLachlan received his Golden Globes nomination for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture for TV for his portrayal of multiple characters in the new Twin Peaks. Kyle previously won the award in 1991 for Best Actor in a Drama TV Series for his role as Dale Cooper, so yes, go ahead and shout it out: “It is happening again!”

Following the well-deserved nomination, Showtime invited Kyle over to address some fan questions regarding his nomination.

What was your first reaction to the nomination?

How will you celebrate today? As Agent Cooper, as Mr. C, or as Dougie?

Is there one scene or one moment when you said to yourself, I’m back or this now feels like Twin Peaks?

Which Twin Peaks character is inside you that nobody would guess? Maybe some Mr. C, or Dougie?

However, one question remained unanswered.

UPDATE: Kyle MacLachlan’s official statement on his nomination.

“I’m truly thrilled and humbled by the nomination this morning. What a surreal experience to be nominated today for a role that I was so lucky to win this award for 26 years ago… I am so grateful to the HFPA for this acknowledgement, and to David Lynch for creating this very special universe and allowing me revisit it.”

The Golden Globes 2018 award show airs January 7, 2018 at 8 PM PST on NBC.

  1. Pete says:

What a travesty that Laura Dern wasn’t nominated, though. She stole every scene she was in.

  2. Gabe says:

What really bothers me is that this is the only nomination for the show. How has Lynch not been nominated as best director? Yes, the episodes are of inconsistent quality, but come on, some of the best TV ever made is contained within that series. How can they overlook the editing when it pushes the art way beyond the established limits of television drama?

This sort of oversight is exactly what undermines the wavering credibility of awards ceremonies.

    • Pete says:

Looking over the nominations it seems that they don’t have any editing awards, and only award Best Director to films. (which seems pretty ridiculous nowadays)

It is hard to believe that The Return wasn’t one of the best 5 miniseries or television movies of the year though.

      • Rob B. says:

Perhaps its length puts it in a strange category, Pete? One that doesn’t quite fit TV movies or miniseries?
