The label ‘Dark Intro’ is used a lot in the archive to denote the 3-chord intro section to Laura Palmer’s Theme. In fact, many versions of Laura Palmer’s Theme/Love Theme are actually split into ‘Dark Intro’ and ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ separately… the latter beginning with the piano scale ascend. Somewhere among the myriad versions of ‘Dark Intros,’ the popular pattern starts to be twisted into a number of variations. Several of these can be heard in previously released versions of Laura Palmer’s Theme: Letter From Harold, Ethereal Pad and Caroline versions are all variants that fell under the label ‘Dark Intro.’ The versions presented in this bundle, however, were never used in the series… yet, with echoes of the show’s most prominent theme it is easy for the mind to imagine the scenes they could have accompanied.
