It is well-known that David Lynch frequented Bob’s Big Boy for lunch daily at 2:30 PM sharp for an impressive seven years, consistently ordering a chocolate milkshake and a coffee before turning one of its booths into his temporary office for the afternoon
In the days and weeks following David Lynch’s passing, devoted fans created a touching makeshift memorial at the base of the iconic Bob’s Big Boy statue outside Burbank’s renowned Bob’s Big Boy restaurant. This memorial included coffee mugs, blue roses, and bags of Cheetos, among many other brilliant references to his work.
Several Bob’s Big Boy-themed David Lynch tributes have existed for years, but “Burbank, 2:30 PM” by Todd S. Rogers, also known as Junk Fed, is the first tangible homage in the form of a 9-inch tall, one-of-a-kind mixed media custom figure. The artist has put it up for auction until Saturday, February 22.
Fix your hearts or die!
“Often drawing inspiration from David Lynch, I’ve adopted ‘fix your hearts or die’ as my own war cry,” Todd explains on the eBay listing. “A call to empathy before arms.” That’s why he’s donating 50% of the proceeds from this auction to Prism Counseling and Support, LLC, a Connecticut group that supports LGBTQ+ youth and adults. The proceeds of this donation will help Prism provide low to no cost skill building workshops, community building events, field trips, and more. “I’ve chosen a local group in an effort to directly help a local community and effectively address specific needs,” the artist explains. Deputy Director Gordon Cole would be proud.
