“It was such an honor to be asked to be a part of the new Twin Peaks,” singer Lissie shared with her fans shortly after appearing in the Roadhouse at the end of Twin Peaks Part 14. This version of the song will be included on the upcoming series soundtrack. The original version is already part of the Twin Peaks 2017 playlist on Spotify.
“Lissie was definitely one of the acts that David wanted involved from the beginning,” Twin Peaks music supervisor, Dean Hurley, tells DJ Morgan at KEXP. “He’s been a big fan of hers for years and discovered her by a series of videos she posted on YouTube covering Lady Gaga, Metallica, etc.”
Lissie is head & shoulders above anything I've heard in a long time. Incredible, incredible stuff.

Lissie’s uplifting stadium rock song is one of the more unlikely choices for the Roadhouse. Dean Hurley doesn’t want to speak for David Lynch, but thinks it’s obvious why he cast her: “[S]he is an incredibly emotive performer who completely embodies her music and gives everything. It’s probably the same thing that guides his desire to cast certain actors for certain roles… he’s looking for a super strong emotive core which can illustrate and get across big feelings to a viewer… for the roles that require that (and there’s always a bunch of these types of roles in his work).”

I’ve been living with the firelight
I’ll be fine, fine

“David Lynch is obviously a creative genius and I’m so thrilled to be a part of this legacy,” Lissie writes. To accompany the Roadhouse version of her song, she asked a friend’s 14-year-old son, Finn Deen-Lester, to create a video of his own imagination alongside “Wild West.” He didn’t know what it was for and took to the country with 3 friends and a camera.
As a bonus, here are some of David Lynch’s favorite Lissie songs, as mentioned in his tweet from back in 2010.
And Lissie's cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, Lissie's When I'm Alone, Little Lovin & all her live sessions.

Are you out there
To take away my fear?
I haven’t lost my hope
Even though I am so far from my home
I’ve been living my life on the edge
Slip and fall if I take one more step
There’s safety in numbers, I guess
But I’m going rogue in the wild, wild west
Wild, wild west
Wild, wild west
Wild, wild
From where I stand
There’s a world where you can
All that you lost, you get back
And all that you want, you can have
I’ve been living my life on the edge
Slip and fall if I take one more step
There’s safety in numbers, I guess
But I’m going rogue in the wild, wild west
Wild, wild west
Wild, wild west
Wild, wild
I’ve been dancing in the moonlight
I’ve been laughing with this firelight
Living, I’ve been giving
I’ve been living with the firelight
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine, fine
I’ve been living my life on the edge
Slip and fall if I take one more step
There’s safety in numbers, I guess
But I’m going rogue in the wild, wild west (wild, wild west)
I’ve been living (wild, wild west) too close to the edge (wild, wild west)
If I fall (wild, wild), who’s gonna catch me?
There’s safety in numbers, I guess
But I’m going rogue in the wild, wild west (wild, wild west)
I’ve been dancing (wild, wild west) in the moonlight (wild, wild)
I’ve been laughing with this firelight
Living, I’ve been giving
I’ve been giving with the firelight
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine
I’ll be fine, fine
Never heard of Lissie before. That song’s been stuck in my head all week though. Good stuff
If there was one thing I could remove from the new season, it would be this performance…..stadium rock doesn’t fit the mood of Lynch at all. It’s as bad as having Taylor Swift at the Roadhouse.
Agree 100%!
Chromatic/Johnny Jewel, Au Revoir Simone, Sharon van Etten, Trouble… That’s the kind of thing that fit perfectly in the series. At least the rest of the episode was awesome, and we can just skip the credits for that episode, i guess.
Highly disagree. This is the episode the portal opens and the road house adds more optimism to which was a poisoned world due to BOB. The song is great and is a reaction to the world that previously was falling apart.
I don’t mind the song…I just thought the whole performance was off somehow. It was clearly a lip-sync and not even all that good a job.
This song is awesome. Loved it!!!!
That was by far the best Roadhouse /Bang Bang bar performance. I liked it right from the first note and it got better as the song progressed. Googled Lissie straight away.
