Watch Lady Blue Shanghai By David Lynch For Dior

David Lynch’s 15-minute short movie —or rather, "extended commercial"— for Dior, Lady Blue Shanghai, had to include a Dior bag, Old Shanghai and the Pearl Tower. Everything else is totally Lynch. Can you spot the director's trademark techniques and symbolism?

David Lynch - Lady Blue Shanghai for Dior

David Lynch’s 15-minute Internet short movie —or rather, “extended commercial”— for Dior, Lady Blue Shanghai starring Marion Cotillard, had to include a Dior bag, Old Shanghai and the Pearl Tower. All other elements are totally Lynch, reminiscent of Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me to name just two.

Can you spot Lynch’s trademark techniques and symbolism? Post your answers in the comments!

  2. Andrei Preda says:

the blue rose is one of lynch’s elements used in fire walk with me

  3. Ben Nathan says:

The eerie sounds effects are common in his films, that and his use of color pallets (including blue, red, and black). Another could be dramatic strobe lights

  4. Is the music (apart from the tango) commercially available somewhere?
