The Pink Room is opening its back room doors again tomorrow for an evening of tantalizing burlesque performances inspired by Twin Peaks, Eraserhead, Fire Walk With Me, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Mulholland Drive and other David Lynch films. Schaffer the Darklord will host (seriously, beg the guy to do his David Lynch rap if he doesn’t burst into it himself) and guide you through performances by Boo Boo Darlin’, Gemini Rising, Francine, Ruby Valentine, RunAround Sue, Tansy and Foxy Vermouth. As always, The Pink Room specialty cocktails will be served all night and David Lynch films will played on the screen at the bar.
When Francine “The Lucid Dream” first began producing The Pink Room Burlesque over a year ago, she had no idea where it would lead us, but she had a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange. Never in a million years did she expect it would lead to working on a feature film with Joaquin Phoenix and burlesque beauties, Boo Boo Darlin’, DeeDee Luxe, Legs Malone, Ruby Valentine, RunAround Sue & Tansy!
Francine has been hard at work playing a 1920’s burlesque performer on the set of the Untitled James Gray Project starring Joaquin Phoenix, Marion Cotillard & Jeremy Renner. On this production, Francine has been wearing costumes designed by the iconic Patricia Norris who also worked on Lynch’s Elephant Man, Twin Peaks, Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, The Straight Story, Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart. Working with the woman who dressed “Lil, my mother’s sister’s girl” from Fire Walk With Me has been an inspiration and a fascinating learning experience her.
