from her diary.. I'm at work on my break and I just remembered that they never said anything again about the 1 missing page in Laura's diary.. do anyone think it's a red herring or is there some importance to whatever is on that missing page??
I mean I still don't get who put it in the stall of the bathroom I know they said Leland right??
So confused ?♀️
I've considered it might be someone else that place it there myself. However, I figured the additional missing page might include a story twist element. It could also be left there as a seed to plant the possibility of future story telling (say followup books).
Deeper, it could point out that little in life is ever completely known or learned. I tend to figure this would be overkill to a point clearly made through many points in the series.
I would love to see that little tidbit resolved. I am having trouble imagining, however, what NEW info it could contribute (I would be disappointed if that page was used to retcon Sarah's persona in TP-OS and FWWM.
Seems to me that the purpose of those pages as a plot device was t o close the circle with Annie appearing in Laura's bed.
I am not much for making elaborate predictions- I just hope that if it comes back up, it is appropriately shocking.
Yeah I'm having a little bit of a hard time trying to think about what it is about (the missing page) I mean it has to be of some importance right ?? But then I think maybe it's a red herring .. but then I think well it's about Laura and I don't think Lynch would red herring anything when it comes to Laura .. but then again who knows ..
I'm just wondering if there is something 1 thing that can tie all of the unanswered questions together .. I mean I know not everything but something that will make the majority of it tie together and then I would be like ? Why didn't I see that it makes so much sense..
well Lynch sense

Oh yeah... I feel certain that this missing page will pop back us and tell us some important stuff. Maybe we find out that Maddie was really Laura's doppelganger......
When Hawk says one page is still missing, is he accounting for the page that Harold sent to Donna (through his neighbor "Mrs. Tremond")? Cooper is with her when she gets it, and she reads it aloud, but he does not take it from her/seems to let her keep it.

First I've been reminded of that. Dang, this makes too much sense.
So, part of me thinks that we will find out about the missing page by the time The Return ends (like, as mentioned earlier, Sarah has it, or some such thing).
But part of me believes that Lynch/Frost purposefully held it back because that's the sort of thing they like to do. Lynch is on-record as saying he never really wanted to solve the "Who killed Laura Palmer?" mystery, so withholding the last page of her diary may be a way of keeping her mystery alive, even when the show has ended its run.
Something else I've noticed about The Return.... it's solving mysteries from 25 years ago more than it is answering the questions raised in its 2017 run. But it is doing so selectively. For example: We are now finding out what happened to Phillip Jeffries and, possibly, will know who or what Judy is. But we are also going to apparently be left in the dark as to the fate of Chester Desmond.
It all seems very random, which, of course, makes it very David Lynch. 🙂
I agree on the centrality of Laura, they made this point very clear (Laura is the one). Again making her whisper another secret in Coop's ear, something i feel is being underestimated by many. It's very possible we will have the solution of Dougie/Mr.C issue when it's going to be revealed what she whispered.
Therefore Donna's missing page theory looks logic enough, but i tend to believe there's still one page missing too.
In terms of the diarIES, i still have to clear my mind about it. Are these pages from the first diary or from the one at Harold Smith's?

Oh, because of the timing thing with regard to when she saw Annie/gave the diary to Harold? I don't think there is anything to indicate she gave him the diary before she saw Annie other than the order of scenes in the film, is there? Also, I don't think there was any indication the non-secret diary was missing pages...
I've been waiting for the missing page to come up. If it does, I can't imagine what it will contain. Maybe something that hints at how to identify the real Cooper.
Agent Desmond disappeared after he took the ring. Given the taunt left for Coop on Chet's car, he was killed.

I'm with you on it serving well as a plot device. In addition to closing the circle with Annie, it also gave Frank reason to call Gordon Cole.
Red herrings aside, given the dialogue hasn't exactly been verbose, Hawk's comment that there was one page still missing seems too big a set up for there not to be some kind of payoff, commensurate or not.
It's funny now there are only 3 parts left, how upon recalling how much we've been given, we find ourself thinking, 'Oh, I'd forgotten about that.'
🙂
