Hopefully not longer than four years but I guess if people waited twenty or so years.
Best make a decision soon then as some of the actors and actresses probably don't have many years left in them.
I don't think it's going to take him that long- I think he's just giving that as a failsafe for us as to not expect it as soon as we'd like (now 🙂 )
I wouldn't be surprised to see a season 4 that's about half the length of season 3, which could shorten the timeline a little.
Agreed Chris; nine episodes sounds about right.
I'm sure any new twin peaks wouldn't revolve so much around the old characters so much as the story progresses the newer characters would be more at the heart of it. It would be nice to have as many as could be though as we have come to know and love these characters . But the continued story would most likely move forward

Hi Briznes,
I bet you're a Tom Wolfe fan, aren't you? 😉

Ha - it's funny as I was saying how The Return was such a great way to bring Twin Peaks to a close... but I'd be totally up for a fourth season 🙂
If it did happen (and I'm not holding out at this stage), I guess it would explore more about the alternative reality and the altered timeline back in the main reality.. (and Audrey??)
If a new season ever came to be no one should expect 'answers' to many of the big questions, especially Audrey. The story could resume anytime / anywhere with certain characters still in play and some simply ignored (like Annie).
In a sense, I'm saying we have to reconcile to the ending as it was given. Even though I hate hate hate the ending. Though I loved most of the season.
I think that because David is even considering another season of Twin Peaks suggests that the "loose ends" and questions that remain could be answered; otherwise, this season would not have meant to be the end the story of Twin Peaks
I can see how a fourth series might pan out.
Fifteen episodes of Cooper as Richard, carrying out seemingly random tasks. We don't know what his end game is.
Throughout the series, Dick Tremaine is in a room on his own speaking to an unknown person behind a clothing curtain. This scene is interspersed every 2 or 3 episodes. Who is the man behind the curtain??
By episode 16, Cooper/Richard will revert back to the old Cooper again. Fans rejoice. Suddenly something changes and at this point Cooper will suddenly start referring to himself as Alan.
The final credits will roll just after Sarah Palmer reaches into her handbag and pulls out a bag of lamb jerky.
The credits roll to a folorn Dick Tremaine, staring at the camera with a solitary tear rolling down his cheek. He's mouthing the word "Judy".
