So,  when Cooper is handed the ring,  I would assume it would be to slip it on Mr C and send him back to the Lodge.  But could it be to protect Cooper, as it was Laura from possession?

Also,  wouldn't this mean that Mike  gave Ray the ring,  and made that call to Mr C in the motel in Buckhorn, claiming to be Phillip Jefferies? therefore,  wouldn't Ray be Lodge connected? He did,  after all,  see the Woodsmen remove BOB from Mr C....

In FWWM, Cooper told Laura to NOT put on the ring.

One theory I have is that Laura should have let Bob enter her and then destroy him.  If she is "the One", perhaps she is the only one who can contain or destroy him.  If this theory is true, the ring prevented this and let Bob continue raping and murdering countless women.

The ring is Mike's instrument and I think his motivations are tainted.

We saw Cooper put it under the pillow of te hospital bed.  I assume he took it once he was dressed.

One thing I'd like resolved is the purpose of the ring. I know there's a risk of the story having a nod to LOTR, but it's a crucial part of the TP mythos.

The ring - sends normal people to the lodge when they die (as in the case of Ray).

Mr C was a bit spooked by seeing it. So the ring is clearly something he fears. What will it do?

Bob's old victims all wore the ring at some point. Why?

I'm thinking it grants some form of control or ownership. "with this ring I thee wed". Some kind of joining/union. Perhaps that's why Cooper needs to put the ring on Mr C - to restore some kind of balance / remove the doppelganger duality.

Ray was SUPPOSED to put the ring on Mr. C after he shot the bazturd. But he couldn't even do that right.

Maybe that's why Mr C didn't die and the woodsmen came out to save him after Ray shot him. I hadn't actually considered that before.

Basically, the doppelganger won't bugger off til Cooper puts a ring on it

Ray's a loser.  Ray has always been a loser.

Diane's culpa ends up in the Black Lodge without having been wearing the Owl Ring -- meanwhile, everyone else who appears there after being killed had been wearing it

I'm no ring expert, but this gif from the front page is awesome:  http://imgur.com/5H2foSt

MOM! I hadn't thought of that coming from the ring before. And seeing MIKE/Gerard say "MOM" kinda explains the line, "Wow Bob Wow."

yeah. we were probably supposed to infer that straightaway from his retro bowling shirt (which he never changed out of)...

I saw that you can preorder an owl cave ring now.  While I might enjoy having one, I would be very nervous to ever wear it.
