Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
The fact that we are three pages in on a post that is parsing the usage of "this" vs. "that" in an attempt to uncover esoteric truth epitomizes what I love about TP, and this tribe.

Make that four pages 😀

This is true!
That is true?
IS it true?
I've been on tenterhooks, ending in dirty looks
List'ning to the Muzak, thinking 'bout this 'n' that
She said, "That's that, I don't want to chitter-chat"
Turn it down a little bit or turn it down flat
Pump it up, when you don't really need it
Pump it up, until you can feel it

Elvis lives!
Nope. It's an old one, going back donkey's years. I believe I first heard it at school, 40 - some years ago.
I don't watch QI; I agree with the view that Stephen Fry is a stupid person's idea of a clever person.
Just because he ditched Qi for The Great Indoors doesn't make him stupid. 😛 he's bipolar iirc, at the very least I'm glad he never took his own life. I love him everywhere I see him.
Anyway he didn't write the Qi questions and answers, and he never claimed to be as knowledgeable as he seems to be. (But I'm a fan, so I'll argue he's just being modest. Plus he does have a nice grasp of the French language. But I really don't think the English language is any more complex. I don't care about the stats :-P)
Sorry for being off topic!
Bipolar or not, I really don't like the guy. And in reference to his intelligence, I wasn't thinking of QI. It's a phrase that's been doing the rounds for a while.
Probably due to the rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge alums 😛
Ps: in French, QI means IQ. I know, it only makes me smile.
Maybe so. I just think he's a smug, irritating git.
A new article is online :
http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/actors/david-bowie-phillip-jeffries-twin-peaks-scene/
I didn't know that David Bowie "stole" the belt worn in FWWM :
“I did all my scenes in four or five days, because I was in rehearsals for the 1991 Tin Machine tour.” In fact, Bowie stole a part of Jeffries’ costume for a good cause: “I’ve worn [his belt] a few times on stage with Tin Machine. It consists of two rather garish portraits of Frida Kahlo. A very “now” item. I’m hoping it will lead to a court case producing massive exposure on CNN. Otherwise, I will sell it to the highest bidder… or Madonna, perhaps.”
The belt in FWWM :
I realize that in most message board communities, resurrecting old posts can result in bad things.. However, I hope that in this Twin Peaks community that is not so..
because..
I was thinking about Jeffries last night and how Lynch changed the dialogue from 'this' to 'that'. Further, I kinda made a connection I had not considered before.
Official version vs. Unofficial version.
Cooper going back in time and changing things.
Perhaps Jeffries did the same thing at some point and that alone can explain why the dialogue was different.
Just a thought.
(BTW: I still think The Palm Deluxe has something further to offer to the TP story)
I personally love resurrecting old threads, especially here.
I personally love resurrecting old threads, especially here.
for ME, especially HERE, we talk about things so much and learn SO MUCH over time that it only seems fitting.
PLUS to go along with the tradition of Twin Peaks in that there is always something new to be learned from rewatching; I figured - there is no better place to write my new observations than on the older thread where it was brought up!

Absolutely! It is also entertaining (and sometimes quite sad) to look back on all the theories and ideas we had and how we were so sure of so many things.........I just shake my head now.
As for this:
"Official version vs. Unofficial version.

Never thought of it that way and I think that is very possible. Even if it was not intended that way, it makes sense in hindsight. Good catch!
