Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Whole lotta nothing. Showtime boss says he wants to wait until it's done and will then speak to Lynch and Frost. Thats what probably would happen no matter how big or small the show was. Still doing massively well internationally (especially France unsurprisingly) so those sales could encourage showtime.
If it had killer ratings, they would know now if it would continue. Frankly I think he said "not likely" to not deter current viewers.
Methinks showtime wants to see how it ends (and viewership goes) before debating continuing.
See my second post, viewing figures aren't as important as they used to be. I honestly think it'll come down to if Lynch and Frost want to do more then if not showtime then somewhere else will pick it up.
Viewers are massively important for a pay channel.
Major network I'D agree bc it's "free", but a subscription channel needs the viewers.
Lynch and frost "wanting to do more" will be a direct result on if showtime feels it's worth shelling out the money to pay for it imo.
That's how I see it. I'd love to be wrong, though.

Subscribers are massively important to a pay channel, as long as people don't cancel they get paid whether shows get watched or not. It wins tonnes of awards then they can advertise the channel as home of the multi-award winning twin peaks as a selling point.

My biggest fear, is if a season four is even a topic, that means we are left with unfinished business in season 3.
The potential bright side.....Lynch managed to end season 2 with an ending that worked as a "final" ending but also left the door open for more.
Time will tell i guess.

Well, we can't exactly wait around another 27 years now, can we? Many of us would be ...not around.

All the cliff-hangers were to encourage fans to lobby ABC harder to not cancel, but by then ABC was determined to kill it.
David Lynch wanting to do more would the result of...D. L. wanting to do more. Remember for many years he said he wouldn't do more TP. He is not motivated by money.

Ah yes, the place where Alice Cooper recorded, all those years ago. Not a bad album, either. Tony Levin on bass, IIRC.

He said he wouldn't do more.
The this opportunity presented itself (I forget if he approached showtime or they approached him).
He gave them a number, he said no, they gave him what he wanted, and it got done.
I have a hard time buying that money wasn't a factor.
It's done folks. It was a one-time deal. I like to think we're watching Lynch's final masterwork.
If the story ever does continue, I hope it's on something like Netflix. I'm way past wanting to watch a show when the network decides to air it. I want to watch when I want to watch and to watch multiple episodes in a row. This week to week business is killing me.

D.L. has stated that he LIKES having this shown week by week. He isn't a fan of "binge-watch tv". . I'm not a fan of having a subscription to Showtime, because I already have HBO and Netflix, but if there is a season 4 (I so hope there will be) you can bet your sweet bippy it will again be a week to week release and not a whole season dumped all at once.
I don't want to think about more. I just want to revel in the moment. This is not an all-you-can-eat buffet, it is a gourmet meal, and I just want to taste every bite, and not worry about the next meal.
For my part, I will keep Showtime after the show ends, just to thank them for doing this.
And as far as having to wait each week, it is what DL wants, and I am fine with that. The frustration is part of the seasoning that makes this meal taste so good.

I even emailed them to thank them for investing in this risky project and to say I'm keeping Showtime afterward. (I didn't say it came in a good package with HBO and now I can watch Jon Oliver, etc. too...)
