I do respect different opinions, I've just cracked and needed to vent. Half the things were just my tired, angered mind. I apologise if I have offended anybody.

I'm not *expecting* anything.  Maybe that makes a difference.  I just like seeing what comes up  - then I like discussing what it all might mean on here, but if it's completely different to that, fair enough.
When I'm watching it (which does tend to be some ungodly hour in the morning) I'll like some bits more than others when I rewatch it.  Later on I might change my mind.

I liked Colin's use of the word 'savour'  - I think that's what I'm doing.  Doesn't mean I love every single minute & character.  Doesn't mean I'm going to claim I know what David Lynch is doing ('cos I don't)
I'm enjoying it (which is why I'm still here)  I like reading other folks' thoughts about it (again why I'm still here) as often I think 'Eh?' and then go back & think they may have a point.  We're not staking high sums of money - we're not losing if the idea we predicted doesn't come up - and I think that's why I'm not getting the big disappointments when characters or scenes don't happen as people wanted them to.

I'm fascinated that something's come back after 20+ years and I'm even more hooked than I was first time round.  Being able to bounce crazy theories around is a bonus.  And I know Brandy will have been shouting 'Fuck you Tammy!' at the same bits as me.  🙂

I enjoy the theories.  I really don't care about other people's expectations.  I'd say the first is a team sport and the second is none of my business.

Awe - "a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear or wonder" (first definition that came up on Google). Experiencing awe and responding to (even registering) the experience can go wrong in too many ways. I.e. getting stuck in cult-like hero worship; reacting to fear/shame/being unsettled/being uncertain/being frustrated with anger, blame or resentment; not knowing how to smile/laugh/hold ones pose in the face of wonder.

I'm glad that those that are finding it tough going have a place/opportunity to express it, and to witness others flourishing in it. We're very fortunate.

"I appreciate a sense of irony to my post is about my disdain for human behaviour in general. But I am a flawed human like the rest of them ?"

Absolutely no offense taken on my part. You stated your argument and opinion, I countered with mine.  🙂

We live in a culture in which it is hard to control the feeling that every opinion we have deserves to be expressed.  I increasingly think that whatever meagre maturity I musteris founded in knowing when to keep silent, and when no one cares what my opinion is.

...and if silence is a sign of maturity, then DL has it over all of us.

I have never understood why people waste their time writing negative stuff about something they dont like. I was raised if you dont have something nice to say dont say anything at all.

I dont understand half the shows that most the mainstream seem to love anyway. I'd rather watch paint dry or a fish fart than watch "Game of Thrones" or "2 and Half Men". I like shows that are different, weird atmosphere driven, parts of it left up to my interpretation of what i saw and make me think about it all day after i watch it. Thats why I love Twin Peaks!

The phrase "watch paint dry or a fish fart" made me laugh out loud... so much so that I think I may have farted a little.  Brilliant choice of words!

Thanks I apprectiate that. I'm thinking of writing a childrens book "Does a Fish Fart?" Please don't steal my idea! ?

There is a big difference between 'moaning' because the person is used to simplistic entertainment and does not have the open mind to enjoy something as avant-garde as TP this season, and negative opinions formed on proper critical and/or emotional engagement. The latter is never a waste of time or annoyance. I read negative reviews first on even things I love - in order to get a different perspective on a piece of art.

I personally LOVE a lot of slow, arty entertainment. I was riveted by the glacial Rectify, while GoT put me to sleep on the single time I attempted to watch it back in S1. However, slow artiness itself isn't a get out of jail free card for being immune from criticism, because that is just a stylistic choice. It does not automatically make a creative project great on its own. There is still good slow arty stuff, bad slow arty stuff and everything in between.

So I don't see how shutting down informed negative or mixed opinions on here serves any worthy purpose. I have yet to see anyone on here yell: "This sucks just cause it's weird!" with nothing beyond.

I'm probably more critical of my favorite artists than anyone else. Because we hold our favorites to some higher personal standard that can't be fully satisfied.

I've made critical comments about The Return, and eps 10-12 are my least favorite, but a lot of it has blown my mind in the best way. Episode 8 will probably be stuck in my subconscious forever!

I admit I would have liked to see a lot more of some core characters from the original show, but I've enjoyed most of the additions. My main 'fear' is that, with so many new interested plot threads, tons of things will be unresolved by design. But that's the storytelling game, I suppose. "Always leave them wanting more."

Either way, thrilled TP came back in any form. There is nothing like it, nor will there be.

Well said.  I think I do the same.

Kdawg, I've learned to fear your wit.  Especially if I imagine a voice akin to Deputy Chad's while reading...
