Hi all,
Not sure if I'm alone here but I have a very strong feeling that the sounds we are hearing (listen to the sounds) from the gramophone are noise we get from a loose or rattling ceiling fan. Of course with some editing. I think the rattle from the motor is isolated and slowed down.
And we all know the connection between Laura and ceiling fans.

I agree that it's a rotary phone. Based on the duration of each component, I think it's dialing 430.
