"Laura was trying to seduce Cooper again to keep him trapped like she has for 25 years. "
You missed/ignored the information about Laura in FWWM. She put on the ring to prevent Bob from taking her over, and she knew it meant she would be killed. She did not trap Cooper, Bob did, sending out a doppelganger that he could control and use in our world ( original tv show ). The new show Laura told Coop he could go out now. She would not tell him that if she was trying to keep him in.
So, Laura is the "Mother" who was talked about in S3E1? Quite intriguing indeed.
So she is not the savior who would save Becky Burnett (nee Briggs), the new "Laura" who many assumes will likely meet Laura's fate later in the series - presumably someone who Cooper will try to save?
Or like Coop, are there two Laura in this series, the DoppelLaura who becomes the Mother - who eats up the face of everyone who challenges her - and the Good Laura who will try to save Becky from a fate worse than death?
'You can go out now' and Laura's face flash over Jade when Dougie/Cooper gets out of Jade's car at the casino, another woman who he was ruining his life for.....
In fire walk with me, remember the one armed man(one trying to stop bob, with no left arm) telling Laura 'dont take the ring laura', 'its him' and 'the thread must be torn mr. palmer', sending Leland into a nervous mania at the traffic light. Also, there is the scene in the middle of the stairs where Laura stares evilly at the light and voice from above, 'letting it in', then proceeds to humiliate her mother. At the end of the movie, Laura's taking of the ring signifies her eternal affirmation of bob, leland, truck drivers, she is one of them.....
Also, after saying that 'you can go out', Laura proceeds to kiss and seduce cooper again, seemingly successfully, in the same way that she did 25 years ago to keep him there; it is only her being torn away which finally allows cooper to re-emerge, but leland still wants laura...
Bob is able to enter cooper because of his vulnerability coming from his romantic connection to Annie based on his enjoyment in Twin Peaks as the ideal town, he risked it after finding Twin Peaks and Laura Palmer, a place and people worthy of his desire, Laura, a girl worth saving....then found out it was as rotten as anywhere......throwing off his entire mission as law agent(what law exists now?, what is worth it, etc.) Bob enters cooper because of his 'immersion' to twin peaks, as its underbelly, not it's 'cherry pie' facade...and this is what it means to desire laura
Yeah, there may be a good laura, she did see the angel after her death and started crying......but mostly we see evil/mother laura since after the angels finally disappeared on the picture in her room(after she wanted the red room and bob, and went on that party with buck the truck driver as a prostitute for Jacque); further, she took the ring... her infinite affirmation was to join with bob/leland in extra-oedipal union.
maybe some good will be seen in laura again, but I would guess this would only emerge after Cooper/Dougie is able to change the 'green', the state of things in the world, and undo her legacy retroactively, finally solve the unsolved crime... etc., restore things to where she would have been able to meet the 'angels', etc........create a new law, government, 'way of life' that is capable of sustaining conditions that would allow a good laura, or at least punish the criminals and bring some measure of justice from which to proceed...and the red room would respond, etc...; not sure what we will get here, i am more pessimist as of now, but everything can change quick....
"Laura's face flash on Jade" - you see, not "we." You're entitled to see things that MAY NOT be intended by the creators, but those are your visions of the story.
While I agree generally, in this case the episode itself directly cuts to Laura's face in the red room telling cooper 'you can go' directly over Jade, as she is telling cooper the same thing in front of the casino....
The white monster in the glass box has a black hole in her face. Laura shows a white hole in her face. Laura is the monster.
