Jim from The Long Holidays bought Kikkerland’s DIY Music Box Kit (Amazon) in a museum gift shop and —in an Angelo Badalamenti mood— started punching holes in one of the included strips of paper. The result is this beautiful, 45-second old-school music box rendition of the Twin Peaks Theme.
Here’s hoping Jim will share the score of this song —and by score I mean the pattern of holes— so everyone can recreate this beautiful piece of music on their own mechanical music box.
Update: Yay, here‘s the custom scroll! Thanks, Jim!
If you want to give it a go yourself, grab one of these from Amazon. And if you recreate any other songs from the Twin Peaks soundtracks, please share.
Thanks for the post! It’s pretty much my most popular video now because of you.
I’ve posted my paper scroll on my website. The pen marks are messy, so just follow the punches and disregard my preplanning stage pre-punch angst.
Hopefully you and the community will enjoy the occasional non-twin peaks videos and songs, which is mainly what we specialize in.

hi! looks like the link to the image of the custom scroll is dead. I have this kit and would love to replicate the work that Jim of The Long Holidays shared with us. Does anyone have this image they wouldn’t mind sharing?
thanks
