There were no gags or gangs involved. And why do you think the other half was Audrey?
What is the significance of Carries house being number 1516?
Could be something, could just be the numbers on the house they chose for filming.
We are knowing now it's not the number of the real house 😉
What if... Laura Palmer was the tulpa of Carrie Page all along?
What if... Laura Palmer was the tulpa of Carrie Page all along?
That's what I've always wondered. We saw one of them sent down in a golden ball by the fireman. Laura seems more a tulpa than Carrie IMHO.
I feel like i know her but sometimes my arms bend back...
Could that mean that Cooper used Laura to trap Judy, but also Judy used Laura to trap Cooper?
And so, Maddy is another tulpa ?
Wait...a tulpa can't be dead, wrapped in plastic.
well, shucks.. yeah, you are correct..
okay, so next question...
what is the difference between a doppleganger and a tulpa?
OR are they "one and the same" ?
Just noticed the music in part 8 when senorita and fireman are with the Laura orb is the same as music in part 18 when Mike makes the new Dougie !
Can I get your thoughts on this guys please ?
Both musics are very close, but there is a slight difference for me (played on a different key maybe, I'm not a musician)
I signed up the other day, so hello all.
You're on the right track with the music here, but it is not the same as Part 8. It is the same as Part 6 as well as one other part (16, I believe), however. It is the "Accident/Farewell Theme" that first plays when the boy is hit by the car, and then again when Cooper has to leave Janey-E to go to Twin Peaks. Its use in Part 18 could mean that Cooper has sacrificed part of himself at the end so that a new Dougie could be formed. It's not a positive composition, so I believe Dougie's return to Janey-E is supposed to be taken as bittersweet. I also think there's a chance that Janey-E doesn't necessarily exist outside of the red room, especially judging by the cut from the curtains to the red door of her house, which could be taken to mean that Cooper has sacrificed part of his soul to forever be trapped in the lodge. But take all that with a grain of salt because I think the show is all about questioning what we take to be "reality," with the reality of reality, dreams, subconscious, etc. all being equally real.
At any rate, it's the "Accident/Farewell Theme."

LateReg, I gotta say.. it has never crossed my mind that that is why Cooper was "off" in the final episode - that he lost a part of himself when the Dougie Tulpa was made. This REALLY opens up a lot of possibilities now (so THANK YOU for joining these forums!!).
Now.. can you imagine the horror on Janey-E's and son's face when Dougie dies and just disappears???

They are are not technically one and the same when you look up the definitions. But they seem to be used somewhat interchangeably with TP and fans.

Welcome to the forum.
Someone put forward this notion about the creation of a tulpa involving the original person to lose a bit of themselves back in September, I think. Someone, somewhere, probably on here, got me thinking about that possibility. It is an interesting one. Dougie Jones in relation to Mr. C, tulpa Diane in relation to Diane (if that's Diane at the end), Cooper's behavior in Part 18...
I never really bought into it, but it is something interesting to think about.
I do insist on marking a difference between a tulpa and a doppelganger. It seems the latter occurs through a splitting of the self in the Lodge - confronting the dweller on the threshold or whatever - whereas the former is created with a seed and the person's DNA.
But I also think it is important to think about where we are getting these terms. We get 'tulpa' from Tammy after she hears the Lois Duffy story, for example. The word 'doppelganger' on the other hand, is used by the Arm in the Lodge. For whatever that's worth. I just think it is important to think about the sources of some of the information we get. Windom Earle and Hawk also tell us things about how the Lodges work. To what degree does either have it right? etc.
