I genuinely love Bowie. I was heartbroken when he died.
And now, a twin peaks/bowie pun:
Twin Peaks: The Return...of the Thin White Duke, throwing darts in lover's eyes....
I heard a rumour and I don't at all recall where I heard it, that Bowie was self conscious about his voice/accent for the part and didn't want his voice used for the new, steaming, burbling Phillip Jeffries.
Does anybody recall this or was that another unofficial version of a another timeline?
Lynch publicly speculated:

On the subject of Philip, did we ever decipher who Mr C talks to in Part 2 who claims to be Jeffries? Listening to the voice on this rewatch, it doesn't even sound southern, like there's no pretence to even be Jeffries.
Nope, we have not deciphered that and it remains one of the many mysteries.
I wonder if the script would tell..........................
A related mystery is that Mr. C obviously thought he had been working with the real Jeffries. What were they supposedly trying to accomplish working together?

And how did he not know that Jeffries was a kettle?
I think it could have been Windom Earle who made the call to Mr C. He had been with Bob before. ..... just wish there were something to go in that direction.

Oh please no, don't let it be so!! ? ?
- Jeffries went to Buenos Aires
- The machine with the two red leds is in a Buenos Aires basement
- This machine is reacting to phone calls
- This machine is a tulpa
- Jeffries is a machine (according Lynch).
Theory :
- Is it a Jeffries tulpa machine ?
- Is this machine is able to speak with someone ? (when Mr C. calls Jeffries, the voice sounds metallic, like a synthetized voice)

Never thought of it that way. Kinda makes sense.
Understanding both of those machines thoroughly would go a long way in solving quite a few of the riddles in the entire third series.

I like this idea!

It's someone who wants to be with Bob again. So that means he has been with him before.....
Just read this theory on a Facebook french page : Mike.
He was with BOB before.
I believe in Season 2 Mike states that BoB had been his familiar.
Yeah, they ran together back in the day.
They were indeed a team back before the show, and I've always wondered just how long they ran together as a duo.
