In the original series he inhabited the elderly waiter. 

Could he be inhabiting anyone in this series? The giant has an agenda, presumably to help stop the spread of evil or to find balance. 

If so, my money is on Deputy Holcomb.

Don't know about 'inhabited by', but I get the vibe that Candie may be a ??????? agent.
