underlying reference to the color red throughout the show... starting with the red bandana evil cooper grabs from the pole, red shoes, red coffee cups used to gather DNA, several red chairs, circling major Briggs with a red pen, red moons on the cylinder message. Also a lot of groups of 3s....
Notice that before the show begins that the 'color theme' of each episode is given during the flashing electric 'rancho rosa' productions screen, which has a circle and an outside, this episode it was red and white....red is more like desire proper, while gold is closer to profit/enjoyment
The Rancho Rosa color scheme thing is finally starting to make sense to me. I realized last episode it was completely monochrome as was most of the footage we watched. So this time around I initially thought the red, white, and black were dealing with the Waiting Room, but then all the red objects showed up here. Looks like I'll be going back again to watch them all and see what else I can find.
I noticed the reds in the first few episodes looked slightly shifted in hue towards blue, creating a hint of purple. The reds in the glass box room, tail lights on vehicles, even the light on the modem thing that Doppel Coop used at the motel. I put it down to production techniques but now I'm not so sure.
I should point out I'm one of the very few males in the world who has perfect colour vision, before someone thinks I'm seeing things.
He's actually saying "Red door" in that clip. But the connection is valid.
"Red."
I remember this, the driver then says, 'no thats black'........almost as if he is correcting Dougie, maybe for something more than the door color. Also may be a link with the desire of James and Shelly(Red the character) during the 'blue song'; desire which seems to be leading both of them into trouble, a sort of trouble that Dougie must now avoid(Jade, losing money, etc.)...
also James was seducing Donna while maddie was being killed in the original series during a 'red song' at the roadhouse when the log lady took Cooper there; while Bobby was doubting and contemplating, leading to the long term work which leads him to where he is today, something Dougie must also do

I too have perfect color vision (just ask my old color theory professor) and you're not seeing things. I think there is more to it as well. Perhaps Jacoby is a genius for his intentional choice in glasses!
We've also got a red room, purple ocean, etc.
An aside, I use red and blue, along with their interactions, a lot in my own work. So, I'm loving what Lynch is doing.
