My guess is in parts 6 or 7....I can't imagine DL would wait until 9, when we would be fully half the way through the story arc...seems like it would impair the overall flow if he isn't participating by then...the teasers seem to suggest he does return to duty at some point......driving would be too much for "Dougie"
