In this Vanity Fair article, the author states that she thinks Dougie was created by Mr. C "to ensure that should our intrepid Dale ever escape the Black Lodge, he’ll switch places with the decoy, not Mr. C." Any thoughts on this? It doesn't seem right to me, but Mike does tell Dougie that he was created for a specific purpose and that that purpose has already been fulfilled, right before Dougie shrinks and vanishes. The question I have is, if Mr. C "created" Dougie, then what about his wife and son? It doesn't make sense to me. Obviously, there is some reason why Dale was re-directed into the body of Dougie, rather than Mr. C., but I'm not convinced that Mr. C created Dougie.
I think Doppel-Dale definitely created Dougie. We know he has a plan to prevent his return to the Black Lodge. Mike confirms that Dougie was manufactured for a purpose and that purpose is now fulfilled (before poor Dougie turns into a golden pearl). Also Doppel-Dale knows he has to hold his vomit in when he is being drawn back into the Black Lodge, the second Dougie vomits he is pulled in and when Doppel-Dale sees Dougie in the Lodge he lets go all his Vomit.
So, then how do you explain the existence of his family?

Evil Cooper could have created Dougie 25 years ago, plenty of time for Dougie to get married and have a son.
Dougie is clearly older than 25. I'd put him at 45. It strikes me as more likely that Mr. C. somehow marked Dougie (he has the owl ring, after all) as a vessel for the good Dale to inhabit, rather than "created" him. I'm probably overthinking it at this point.

I'm thinking that BOB created an entire alternate universe.
I agree with this, actually. Read my third point: http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/discuss/twin-peaks-part-3-4/spoiler-wheres-cooper/#post-278
Mike is helping Cooper, I suspect Dougie was created as a vehicle for Coop to escape BL ( which we saw happen ) and eventually go after the doppelganger to bring him back in to the Black Lodge.
Anybody else think that Mr C's vomit looked a lot like GARMONBOZIA?

Pretty sure it was creamed-corn, so yes!
My first thought was GARMONBOZIA. As we know it is a negative spiritual energy created from pain and suffering. Mr. C has comited many evil deeds during past 25 years and as a being from Black Lodge he needs it as a source of living power I guess. It was so strong that police officer got sick and was hospilized. I'm waiting for Albert to examine this poisonus substance.
Dougie also vomited before being pulled back to BL and it also looked like some kind of corn to me. He cheated his wife (if it counts as evil deed 😉 ) so could create some GARMONBOZIA.
I wonder why they vomit it before going back to BL.

Dougie is to all extents a "real" person. We know he eats, drinks coffee (he has his own mug) and can sleep with women. I see no reason why he couldn't have a family of his own. Alternatively we have not been given any information that Sonny Jim is biologically his child...
But this wasn't suppose to happen. Cooper was tricked. Mike says so. God, this is really weird. And he also says that one of them now has to die. Not go back in The Black Lodgde, but die!
One sure wonders what Dougie had been up to. I mean, those two men who tried to shoot him and blow up his car?! Any connection with Mr. Todd? Should be very interesting to see how this story evolves.

As someone that is created there is no reason he'd have to start his life at 0. He could have been made to start life at the same age as Dale Cooper would be.
It never appears that good Dale inhabits Dougie. Dougie vomits and then disappears into the Black Lodge. After this good Dale transfers from the purple place / space submarine / wall safe to where Dougie was.
The good Dale is different in physical form to Dougie - he's slimmer, he has a different hair cut, and he's wearing different clothes.

It wasn't supposed to happen according to the nicer residents of the Black Lodge. What was supposed to happen was that Doppel-Dale was to go back in and good Dale could come out. Instead we get this third Dale (Dougie) going in, that was the trick played on good Dale and Doppel-Dale's plan all along.
I'm not sure why one of them has to die. Rules of the Black Lodge maybe? Maybe dying is the only entrance into the Black Lodge available to them now and the Black Lodge needs that extra person for letting good Dale out (it does seem to have a strict one-in-one-out policy!)
