Did anyone notice the news articles on the front page of the newspaper that the old woman is reading in Judy's?? I found it very interesting. The main article was headlined something like "Odessa Invests Efforts in Alternative Energy" with a picture of windmills. I'm not sure what this could signify, but the importance of electricity seemed relevant.
Also, a smaller article is title something regarding a fraudulent insurance claim. If the show was Cooper's dream, the prominence of electricity and Dougie's insurance company would make sense as elements from "real world" Odessa that he's incorporated into his dream.
Another er thing I noticed which I'd like to post a picture of later is a tree and lamp post that together emulated the evolution of the arm. When Cooper drives away from the motel, the shot lingers on a lamppost with a single spherical bulb next to a bare tree that seems to have been trimmed at about the same level as the bulb. It's a stretch, but seeing this just before sleeping in the motel could be why the arm is depicted as it is in Cooper's dream.

Check out my thread from earlier about the newspaper:
As rocksEM pointed out, the name of the newspaper changed when used in an Axe commercial, but the headings are the same...
