Carl Rodd told Cooper the owners of the trailer that made Chet Desmond dissappear (owl cave symbol ring) were called the Chalfonts. Laura has probably never heard about 'Chalfonts'; perhaps she does not even know the old lady is called Tremond.

Not any intention of discrediting your theory, but I would be instilled with fear if I just left a dead dude on my couch, travelled more than half way across the country with a guy who claims to be the FBI even with a silly badge, seems to kind of know what he's talking about, takes me to a house inhabited by people he doesn't know or think should be there, then asks me what year it is.
Loved those looks that Carrie kept giving Cooper.
