People have mentioned that certain shots in TP3 are inspired by paintings...Degas, Hopper, Bocklin.
In part 17 when Cooper travels back in time there is a shot of him holding out his hand to Laura and then he leads Laura through the forest.
The imagery used here vaguely reminds me of a painting or drawing but I can't really place it. I thought it might be some version of Orpheus leading Eurydice but I couldn't find any visual representation of that myth that resembled what we see in 17 convincingly. Is there anyone here with a good background in art history who could recognize a source for that imagery in part 17?

"Le sang d'un poète" (The blood of a poet, by Jean Cocteau 1930) is one of David Lynch favorite movie.

20 years later Cocteau directed "Orphée" with Jean Marais.
This is the "through the mirror" scene.

"Orphée perdant Eurydice" (Orpheus losing Eurydice), by Pierre Lacour, 1805 :
It doesn't look like this but the theme and the surreal imagery feels akin to me. Remedios Varo's The Escape.
I was just looking at that 1805 "Orphee perdant Eurydice" again. It seems to be an early version of what is now called "retconning". Eurydice is being whisked back to Hell by a very Christian looking satanic demon.
I was worried I wouldn't know what to do with myself after season 3 ended but apparently I have to watch a bunch of old French films and read, The Little Girl that Lived Down the Lane.
Those clips are great, thank you for posting those!! No wonder he loved those.
