Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Hello
Episode 3.. is the photo of young boy in Coles' office important?
It's opposite the A-bomb picture. Could it be the young guy in episode 8?
And throughout this new series all the phones seem quite old.... the ones in the offices. ?
In the original series the women all seemed to dress like the 50s even hair styles, the diner etc etc
RR diner - Rancho Rosa ?
Dougies coat when we first see him is more mustard colour but when Coop becomes Dougie it's lime green...?
Just a few, I have many more (of course ).
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Anyone have any comments?
The man in the picture you've mentioned is the writer Franz Kafka. He was/is a huge influence to Lynch. He once said that Kafka is the only artist that could be his brother. Not related with the young boy in part 8 though I think that the frogmoth we've seen in that episode has some echoes of Kafka's novel "The Metamorphosis".
Phones and clothes: Lynch is a fan of retro styles.
RR: Beats me.
Dougie's jacket: At a guess, I figure he has more than one. Considering he'd been missing for several days, out on the lash, it's fair to assume the other one was sent away for cleaning.

I knew someone would know!
Thank you ☺

I believe the one with the mustard colour is going to spend eternity in the red room...

Ah, yes. I forgot about that. Silly me.

Thanks for your reply ☺
I get that Lynch is a retro fan but seeing how time/dates are a theme for the whole story, is he purposely muddling things up?
The original series was supposed to be in 1989 but everything shouted 50s to me...?

Way back in the day of non HD -TV when we all watched TP on tube televisions, it was explained to me. I do not know if this explanation is technically correct, but it has helped me with the same question.
I was told that this is a form of post modernism, portraying something in a way so that the viewer is never entirely sure what era the story is occurring.
Also, I always thought it was a nod to small isolated backwoods towns and how they tend to be pretty behind on things.
And lastly, as for fashion, if you remember the late 80's and early 90's were having a surge of retro dress from the 50's & 60's. Don't any of you remember darling Dylan McKay or Christian Stovitz in full James Dean mode? Or was it James Hurley mode?
