Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
At least Janey-E has $400K to take care of things for a while.
And a nice new car.
And a fully stocked fridge and cupboards.
And a jungle gym on LSD.
And that huge flower arrangement that the Mitchum's brought to the hospital.
And a partridge in a pear tree.
I'll get me coat.
While we're at it, here's another daft idea...
Coop stays behind in the Fireman's place and takes over and/or is remade as the Fireman.
"What about Senorita Dido?" I hear you all ask. "Surely, Sam old son, she's going to want to zoom off to the supernatural version of Florida with her guy, the Fireman."
Simple. As a reward for her long standing devotion and true love for the real Dale Cooper, Diane takes Senorita Dido's place.
Tah Daah!
Of course, some bugger has to spoil it and ask where Laura fits in with all these celestial shenanegans. Well, the truth is, I don't have the slightest idea.
But I'm sure I can come up with something if I put me mind to it.
Scripts? Ideas? Pfft! Easy, I could do that. 😉
I could see Coop as the new Fireman. I'm with a lot of others in thinking he's done on earth once BadCoop is presumably dispatched and Diane and Audrey are rescued.
Kinda wondering if it's Laura who destroys BadCoop somehow, this fulfilling her destiny as the "One."
In fact it would be odd if Laura doesnt show up since she was shown to be a divine creation of the fireman in episode 8.
There is the possibility that Cooper make a tulpa to throw into the battle against Mr. C, knowing that Mr. C, may destroy it. Cooper then destroys Mr. C. Cooper then returns to Janey-E and family.
I believe that Freddie , the guy with the green glove will actually fistfight with Mr.C ! Freddie will meet his purpose !

I think Laura likely has bigger fish to fry and Bob will be in her crosshairs (they have quite the history after all). But you may be onto something: Coop and Laura united may be key to taking down both Mr C and Bob (especially if they're still together).
The really strange thing is how quickly Janey-E realized (after not realizing for what, 13 episodes?) that Cooper wasn't Dougie. That they were different. And then Sonny Jim picks up on that too. So all of that bumbling around for all of those episodes/days didn't clue you in, but a few words by a slot machine and it's all clear? But then he basically lies to them. "I am your father". Well, maybe he really is? In some weird, lodge, tulpa-cloning, seed-ring-smoke influenced way I won't pretend to understand?
We like when good things happen in our life and if they do we're not wonder why. We can have this feeling that it's like dream but we're not aiming to wake up:)

I think you've nailed it.
"Oh Dougie, it's like all our dreams are coming true" - right before Coop switches on Sunset Blvd.

Paradise Syndrome. The fear that all the good things will suddenly disappear.
Without going into detail, Mrs Therapy and I went through absolute hell for a few years. Then, just a couple of years ago, things started to go right. The sense of elation was incredible but we both couldn't shake off the feeling it was going to go horribly wrong again.
Happy to say, things seem to be plodding along at a reasonable rate, no dramas and no horrible surprises.
I believe Dale asked Mike to make another 'copy' specifically to take his place with JaneyE and SJ. Now that Dale is back in action and will soon reunite with Blue Rose agents and the Bookhouse Boys, Mr. C will be defeated, returned to Red Room and destroyed. I just don't see how or why Dale would want to return. I'm not sure how all this stuff works, but are we to assume since Dale had been there with Mike for a time, did he learn of Annie's fate? Aside from all the FBI work, wouldn't Annie be a top priority? And Diane? And Audrey?
All that said, I've got to say I really like SXT's crazy idea of retiring Fireman... so I'm gonna root for Gordon to assume that role. Cheers!

I've really been itching to see Gordon Cole (and Albert) in the Red Room or Lodges. Cole as the (new) Fireman would be amazing!
Well, right now we can just guess. The title of next episode "The past dictates the future" could, in immensely ways, just re-write some of the things that we saw or change or views of the character. Margarets husband could as well be the giant. He seems to be as good as log can be, not to mention he has helped Briggs, Coop and now Hawk couple of times. Besides, Margarets husband died in the fire, now he is speaking (?) to her through the piece of wood, which is flammable. I honestly think that "fireman" would suit him as a nick perfectly.

A fair point. I guess we could say the show is 'selectively realistic.'
Very creative theory, but I can't get onboard because I don't think EITHER a lifetime in suburban Vegas or a lifetime in another dimension is the right fate for Dale Cooper.
Coop has real affection for Janey-E and Sonny Jim, but that's partly because he has such boundless affection for all decent human beings (and even some not-so-decent ones). He's like a golden retriever that way: Yes, you're his favorite person - really! - but so is everybody else. The Coop we know would also have a heart full of gratitude for how they helped him hobble through his "Dougie" phase - and he'd never willingly let an innocent family suffer just because they got caught in the middle of this epic weirdness. That's why he's making them a new Dougie, and God bless him for it.
With all that said, he's only known them for a few days. And Coop is a man of action. I don't think "being Dougie" for the rest of his life would ever strike him as the way to go.
I also don't see him choosing to become The Fireman or otherwise returning to some ethereal existence in that Other Place. Coop loves this world. He loves people. He loves coffee. He loves pie. He loves trees. He loves being an FBI man. He has tremendous curiosity about supernatural mysteries, but would he want to disappear into one forever - especially after spending 25 years that way already? I don't think so. I think he wants to be on earth and gobbling up life by the forkful.
My dream ending for Coop is that he gets to be an FBI man again. It's what he loves and what he's good at. Maybe as the, ahem, cherry on top, he'd also get a home and family with the right gal (Audrey? Diane? If either of them is still out there somewhere?). I know that's all too happy and normal for David Lynch, who I half-expect to break my heart by sucking him off into space again, just as you say. But that would be a sad and empty conclusion for me, not the right and fitting one.
Edit: And as much as Cooper loves the world, I think that world NEEDS Cooper - in a hands-on, here-and-now kind of way, not a Cooper who's silently poking at the chess pieces from a distance. Would Lynch end the series by sentencing all of us here on earth to a world without Coop in it? Well, obviously I hope not.
I have a feeling the ending will be a little happy and a little sad, and of course, something strange and wonderful.
