And again, when Diane says, "I"m at the Sherrif's office", isn't it a bit too obvious a statement?
My guess is, Naido is Judy (Josie's sister) and Diane is trapped inside Cooper's dictaphone, which is somewhere at the Sherriff's office.
How come nobody has wondered about the dictaphone?
Now, the dictaphone is a good idea. It's certainly plausible, if you accept the (completely rational and non-silly) idea that people can be trapped in drawer knobs. 😉

I'd assume, though, that after Cooper's disappearance they would have to ship all his belongings to the FBI. Unless the dictaphone was somehow overlooked and ended up in the sheriff's station.
If this one was manufactured is there another authentic Diane out there somewhere?
Did Bad Coop kill Diane when he visited her after season 2 and then manufacture Diane or has Diane been manufactured all along and the Diane we've always known has never been real?

kinda looks like Odin--and Naido may have given up some "sight" for wisdom.
I don't think Diane is Naido. First, she is in a cell not an office. Second, tulpas are supposed to resemble their maker. Their only resemblance would be that they're female. Third, we are told Naido's character is in danger of being killed. Why would the dark forces want the real Diane dead?
I think we should be thinking of alternate interpretations of what tulpa Diane means by "sheriff's office." Thinking of Frank Truman is very obvious but let's not forget Harry is a sheriff. Maybe she confused his hospital room as an office.

Maybe real Diane, Naido, and real Phillip Jeffries are all the same!!
?????? Was there any mention of Diane in FWWM? Maybe she only joined the FBI and became Coop's assistant after Jeffries went missing, and he learned how to act as a few different manifestations. Crazy theory. Theorizing is pointless. But unstoppable.
He talked to her right after he met Carl Rodd at the Fat Trout Trailer Park:
"Diane, it's 4:20pm. I'm standing here at the Wind River near the location where the body of Teresa Banks was found. Diane, this case gives me a strange feeling. The real Diane is Janey-E. With the fore-mentioned missing "E" with Naido being spelled backwards. Plus, in Mulholland Drive, Naomi Watts plays both Betty AND Diane. And... Naomi Watts and Laura Dern went together to Lynch's house years ago to try to get him to make films again.
Having said that, we don't know exactly what Diane looks like. Maybe she resembles both Laura Dern and Naomi Watts. I believe it's been a very long time since Cole would have seen her.
