If Richard is gone why did the fireman tell Cooper his importance?

That's a great question. Still trying to figure out how Richard and mystery Linda could be "two birds with one stone." That means you are taking care of two things at one time. I cannot figure it out.
I don't think that's the end of Richard. Maybe he''s ed, but he might still play a part of some sort in the finale. I don't know what will happen, but the Fireman wouldn't have mentioned him if he was just a thug.
sacrificed by his father
Some kind of Abrahamic thing going on you mean.

Yeah. I had the thought that Richard's spirit wouldn't be a bad, new BOB.
He exploded and bits of him fell on the rock. He's dead.

That's a good call.
So two birds with one "Stone" is still a metaphoric clue or is it just stone stone. Like the one richard died on?
my thoughts are that it was a trap to pull back mr c. he suspected it and that's why he used richard as a guinea pig to test it out.
Ah, brilliant!
I swear those "eggs" spewed out by The Experiment in Part 8 looked like stones. So I'm thinking Richard and Linda are twins. Maybe Linda was stillborn?
But wtf do I know at this point.

Linda lives in the trailer park. She was mentioned early on (episode 1 or 2). We haven't seen her yet, though.
As for showing us Richard's evils, I feel like a parenthood is a big theme of the season. Before, I had thought it was just fathers: Ben gives the soliloquy about fathers; we see the fatherless 119 boy juxtaposed with Sonny Jim; we see fatherless James (who is in prison, just like at the end of the pilot) juxtaposed with Bobby, who had a father that had faith in him; Mark Frost's father appeared as Doc Hayward on the Father's Day episode.
Now, as I think about the woman Mr. Jackpots saved reconnecting with her son, about the 119 woman, about Janey-E being a strong mom (who will fight mobsters), and about Audrey presumably missing from Richard's life, I think they're emphasizing the importance of parents altogether.
Much of the cast and crew probably had no kids during the original series and does now. I dunno. Maybe they're saying, "raise your kid right, or he'll choke your mom."

I know about that Linda. I just can't help but think she's a red herring. .... Then again, evil stuff has been known to go down at the Fat Trout. Maybe this will tie in w/Stephen.
