Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
In any case, was everyone else scared crapless that Gordon was sitting there alone and Diane was just gonna bust in and blow him away? That was some serious suspense! I was thinking, "now Dale Cooper will take lead of the Blue Rose team."
And did anyone else think Gordon could sense that she had a gun? He knew she specifically was at the door. Maybe his hearing aid or supernatural power or whatever gives him some super sonar ability?
In Diane's tale of that night, this is the detail that is most chilling. We have never seen Mr. C smile. I think it would be pretty awful.
Diane said something happened to his face when he smiled. Do you think it might have been a Sarah thing?
This and the multiple rapes remind me of Randall Flagg (the walking dude) from King's The Stand.

I was going to be so upset if Gordon got shot. I was seriously worried. But it did seem like he was very intensely aware of her sounds and movements the whole time. He needed to draw out everything she needed to say first. Also he's got a great team and I love that he trusts them. He never had to draw his gun.
Wait, does Gordon have a gun?

Good observations Christen. Cole's eyes went back and forth from Diane's face to her purse at least 20 times. I believe he was aware that there was eminent danger in the air, and obviously Tammy and Albert were ready to go at any moment.
I don't think Cole carries a gun either lol.
It was a short misdirection, making it seem at first Gordon was alone.
Gordon hasn't, and did not have one at that moment. Tammy & Albert were, which means they were expecting danger.
One just wonders about that smile when Sarah took her face off. That was a prerry damned scary smile.
Amd it has been SO notable, that Mr. C DOES NOT SMILE.
But remember the finale from season 2? That was dark dale, his doppleganger, smiling and laughing. Isnt that mr.c?
I think that she means something like the picture below
In this episode Diane's tulpa says: I'm not me
In a previous episode, Sarah Palmer says Something happened to me, and I don’t feel good!”
While Audrey says “I’m not sure who I am, but I’m not me,
In FWWM we hear Jacques Renault: I'm not Jacques. I am the Great Went while Laura says I am the Muffin.
In the previous series, Laura's cousin shows up, and she's an exact double of Laura. Brings a bit of extra weirdness to Man from Another World's line "She's my cousin, but doesn't she look exactly like Laura Palmer?"
I'm just throwing these all out there but can't make a connection...

I think you've picked up on the creepiest part - that was the real shudder moment. We didn't need any graphic details to know how awful it was. Or was it? This was a 'fake' Diane. Doppel or tulpa - was she deliberately trying to provoke emotion? Did that really happen - or was it a convenient backstory?
I think it really happened. I think the tulpa had all of Diane's memories, and so she remembers the point at which she (the tulpa) was created-- after the assault, when he took her to the old gas station.
She stops telling her story then, overwhelmed (imo) with confusion, because that's the point where the memories (and the Dianes) diverge.

Yes, excellent. Although, one could parse that, given that BOB is in the mirror, at that moment, it is NOT Mr. C, but rather BOB.
When I made the observation, however, I was only thinking about TPTR.
so, again, EXcellent!
He does "smile" once, and it's hideous.
Well, I SUPPOSE you could call that a smile. How do it make you feel? Makes me wanna crawl right out of my skin.
Good exampl eof Mr. C trying, and utterly failing, to act human, or more specifically, like Dale.
This is why I am incredulous about Mr. C showing up in TP in Dale drag. I don't think he is able!
But yeah, my thesis is again disproven. But yoiks, one of the most chilling moments in the series for me. And right before bedtime, thanks a lot.
Well, when he first left the Black Lodge and smashed his head into the mirror, he not only smiled, he laughed.
In part 8, we see the head smile at Ray (in its amniotic type sac inside the body of Mr C).
