In the opening scene as BadCoop and Richard are driving on the dark road, they pass the same area twice. You can notice road marks on the left and on the right that confirm this.

I'm at a loss as how to describe it but i will try.

On the left side of road you see normal reflective markers but then there are two small box like things side by side. (not sure what function they serve, perhaps electrical?)

Right after you see those, the road curves and you see a slight clearing on the right shoulder of road. The truck lights reflect off of something on the road side.

The next shot is Badcoop and Richard in the truck. Then the dark road scene repeats and you see the same boxes on the left and the clearing on the right again and the lights reflect on the same thing again.

Time shift?

Lynch messing with us?

Other?

Check it out and see if you can spot it.

I'm gonna check that out.

Are you sure it wasn't just a long dark boring road with spots that look the same?

I felt like something similar happened in hutch and Chantelle's van when she puts her foot in his lap.

Almost positive, that's why i'm hoping others will confirm it.

But, i would say 99% certain.

Now I'm going to have to go check that out. Hmmm, lucky me. I have the show running in the background as i type and that scene is next.

I thought the same.  The first time round, the camera cuts away from the road but it looked like the same section to me, too.

Maybe it's just the video version of what just about everyone does with audio, and not significant of anything.  You know, like the old Hanna Barbera routine of looping the background forever, in lieu of actually drawing something new.

I noticed that and double-checked but the two occurrences are very slightly different.

It's interesting to note that BadCoop says to Richard "I'm 25 years your senior" meaning he's 25 years older than Richard.  Dale Cooper's date of birth is 19th April 1954 which would mean Richard was born in 1979.

This could be an error in the writing or it could be some subtle clue about Richard's origins.

Great observation. I still think that this will end up being something closely related to dreams and the dreamers since a quote similar to that was also in FWWM and in this season in the Bellucci scene it just seemed to be of great importance.

People have said the Secret History is full of contradictions (assuming that is where you got the birthday). That's just too far off to make any sense at all--unless the lodge has been messing with everyone's aging.

Yeah just googled it and it took me to the Twin Peaks wiki.  It's actually referenced in both "The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes" and "Twin Peaks: Access Guide to the Town" (I haven't read either of these, it's just from the wiki).  I don't remember if there was any mentioned in Secret History.

You've officially fucked with my head because I can't figure this out.  My head is fuzzy with a migraine and I keep trying to reconcile the times and dates and my brain has officially walked off in a huff because I wouldn't let it rest : )

there's another thread somewhere where people saw on doppelcoop's arrest files a birthdate listed as around 1972 or 3 if i remember right. that would put little richard's (apologies to the real little richard) birthdate around 1997, which sounds about accurate.

But that would mean that Badcoop/Doppelcoop was about 18 at the end of series 2 when he came out the Black Lodge.

This also made little sense to me if you assume when Evil Coop says goodbye son he is talking about his son.  If he has been here 25 years and did cause Richard to come into this world, then Richard would only be 24 years his younger.  I am not taking his statement as literal and assuming he was just being loose with his years and slang.
