James seemed a bit brain damaged, after "good to see you again" and her husband getting angry, he starts saying to her "I like you..." and her husband attacks.

I wonder if something happened when James entered the furnace and maybe the Fireman told him that he needed to start a fight, so Freddy and him end up in the jail.

Noticed while rewatching: the sound Freddie's green fist makes seems to actually interrupt the song playing at the Roadhouse, like an actual electric interference.

Yeah, the song definitely stops twice when Freddie throws the punches.  Plus, the sound effect when his gloved hand strikes is like something out of a superhero movie... a super loud smash.

Huh! OK, that would make a certain sense. I worry, though, about deus ex Fireman.

I never got the impression that James was mentally disabled from his previous conversations and now he is talking like he has brain damage.
