Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
It shows a golden bubble flying over the mountains of twin peaks. Is it the golden Laura bubble senorita dido sent to earth?
While it is an intentional use of a light effect, it is just a light effect. If it proves to presage the finale, I will fall at your feet, but I am incredulous. And I am VERY supportive of all speculation, to greater or lesser levels of wildness.

It is an off-focus round-shaped golden object. Perspectives. 🙂
The finale will definitely be about Laura. I can't help but be technical about it: Laura is implied by the title of ep.17 and the fact that she's been almost completely absent as a character for the entire season. No reason for - at least - the spirit of Laura to not appear frequently. The fireman's story explanation to andy is also centralizing her and connecting her with the past (bomb, etc) and the future.
I highly doubt this series is about the story of coop's journey home gone bad. He is returning because something is unfinished with the Laura story and the sending of this Laura bubble. Something is gone wrong and she is "dead yet living".
Coop is not the survivor type.
He has and will always be an agent on a mission.

Yes and Coop was tasked with finding Laura by Leland way back when.

Exactly. The first episode starts with the fireman giving directions to Coop, then the rest of the friendly creatures in the red room also guiding him with clues. And when its time to return, Mr.C co-conspirator (the arm) sabotages him. If you see what fireman and creatues tell him you can understand some things about what this mission is about.
Most people on the internet assume that the "see you in 25 years" meant that in 25 years coop would be free to return to reality. Which, to me, is not based on anything but estimation. If you look at the scene and take it literally, it is Laura who tells him that he will see HER again in 25 years. She certainly cannot mean that they will briefly talk for a second in the red room. It must be a more important/big kind of meeting. A hallmark event in the entire story (from the atomic bom to the future).
And lets not forget how surprised Coop is by Laura's ageing or presence in the red room when he meets her again. He tells her "but you are dead", meaning that she shouldnt be ageing or shouldnt still be in the red room as a dead person. There must be a good reason he is surprised to see her there. And when she says "I am dead yet I live", to me this implies either that Laura never died or half-died (a Dougie-esque situation) or that there are 2 Lauras, a dead one and a living one (her case was a blue rose case so maybe a tulpa and a real Laura). Which Laura is where (real world/red room/lodges) is unclear.
BTW: do you think Francesca Eastwood looks like a young Sheryl Lee? She was announced as a member of the cast but havent seen her character yet.
What if there is nothing to find? Laura is gone she saw Agent Cooper and her part is done. What if the reality in the show is darker and breaking down. We end in pain. Laura is gone, Cooper is lost again and evil is roaming the Earth unfettered.
I am thinking more and more for all the good intentions the people are just going to open the breach wider.

No way. R u saying this is a story about hopelessness? What about the usual hopeful finale pattern in most Lynch's films?
Nobody ends in pain, that's never been Lynch's view... We go through pain but that is never the destination.
Are you having a bad day? Do you need a hug? (virtually hugging u).

well... i don't really see all these silhouettes... But i do see - clearly - the golden bubble.
It's not just the ring of light, there's also a tone when it appears in the titles. I think it's 'Intro Cymbal Wind'.

That looks like a sloth trying to shag a parrot!
I have tried browsing through threads looking for an answer to something (the lack of a forum search is frustrating). So I figured that rather than starting a new thread, I would ask here.
What is the location shown in the opening of each episode/part after Laura's image fades? It looks like a mountain road leading to some kind of building, but I can't make it out. The closest guess is the Sheriff's office, but I didn't think it was so remote. Any ideas?
