Lots of good theories. Any of them have the potential to pan-out.
Something I'll add is that, during Part 15 when Mr. C's first scene begins, I knew by the ominous road/headlights that it was him who was driving, and I thought for a moment we were going to see him dressed as Dale Cooper, headed in to Twin Peaks.
Obviously, the scene didn't happen that way, but when the camera did go to looking at Mr. C driving, I thought how easily, with a change of outfit and hairstyle, he could be that image we saw in the promo. Made me nervous.
Also, I still can't imagine Dale Cooper (once he wake up/assuming he wakes up) using an automobile to drive to Twin Peaks. Looking at a map of Washington state, then at the map of the state Diane had on her phone (when she was entering the coordinates and Twin Peaks came up), the real-life town that would appear to be closest to where our fictional Twin Peaks is located is Republic, WA.
A cursory look at Mapquest shows the driving time from Las Vegas, NV to Republic, WA to be 17 hours, 53 minutes. If good Cooper wakes up, and senses things are wrong, I can't imagine him taking almost a day to get to Twin Peaks.
So, all of that is to say, I do think it's Bad Coop we're seeing in the promo.

Im with you on this train of thought. Perhaps Coop flies to Seattle and drives to Twin Peaks from there?
Another detail that keeps driving (pun not intended?) my sceptisim is the FBI pin, but I suppose it would be easy enough for Mr C to acquire one (or has one that is 25 years old).
There is something about the electrocution scene which has also got me thinking about a 'which Cooper is which?' scenario but for a different reason. The last time we see Coop holding the fork in the socket before he is thrown back he has a facial expression which completely reminds me of some of the first glimpses of Coop's doppelgänger: I'm not sure whether it's the bathroom mirror scene: 'how's Annie?' or something from inside the waiting room, but I've definitely see it before and it's not normal Coop. So I'm wondering has the electric shock caused some kind of transposition? Will Mister C suddenly come over all nice? (I hope not for his sake. Imagine the guilt.)
But thinking further on it, this ties in neatly with other theories. It may be BadCoop driving to Twin Peaks, but he doesn't have to dress up as GoodCoop - he's just woken up wearing GoodCoop's clothes in Duggie and Janie-E's house.
He certainly had a very focused, serious look.
If Cooper comes back and is not serious and mad as hell - looking much like our serious DoppleCoop - then it would be incredibly unrealistic. He has experienced hell and will be faced with a world falling apart. He's lost years of life and had an impersonator causing misery for the people he cared about. If Cooper comes back and gives the goofy thumbs up Boy Scout routine, he would deserve a punch to the neck and kick in the pants.
It would be pretty cool if we saw Dougie get in a car at night and start driving to Twin Peaks and then when the car stops it's Mr. C getting out (or vice versa), as in it happens in one apparently seamless scene. Not as if they were the same person, just that they would be in parallel and increasingly similar tracks as they converge on the singularity of the events to unfold in Twin Peaks.
I imagine they would both be in different cars driving to Twin Peaks looking like old Cooper, but you can't distinguish them without more information (like the car/truck they enter/exit from at the beginning or end of the scene).
He certainly had a very focused, serious look.

Aye, sir!
Was thinking the exact same theory as almost everyone else here (Mr. C disguised as good Coop driving to Twin Peaks).
But from reading other posts on this thread, have a feeling there could be a "Lois Duffy" showdown coming...

The idea that we may not know which one survives frightens me.

Kyle M. said Cooper will not be exactly the same as 90's Coop, people change with time ( and we all know he's been through a LOT for a human to take ).

Because a car is the ONLY way to get across the country.
I know it's unlikely to go down this way, but I'd love to see Hutch & Chantal mistake Mister C for Dougie/Agent Cooper. There could be some kind of crazy scene where Chantal aims her gun with a big mouthful of cheetos. That would be hilarious.

Haha! Replete with powdery orange lips and finger tips!
I think you're on to it. He'll (Dopple) dress up like the old Coop and pretend to be him, but then thanks to his electrocution, DougieCoop will wind up being discovered and brought to the FBI.
I think that's the most likely scenario. Guess he's wearing contact lenses, along with the suit.
Agree. I've seen it suggested that it will come down to two identical Coopers in Twin Peaks with the residents and viewers confused as to which is which (Maybe Audrey will solve that question ???). While I hope not, I can see the show ending with us not knowing which one survived.
I think we're in for a blind blowing last 3 hours.
Remember Andy's flash forward? Maybe they have Mr C, posing as Coop, locked up in the cells. He takes Lucy to give him the once over.
Maybe.
I agree with that, I think Lucy will be able to tell the difference!

Kinda hard to imagine what it'd be like to wake up and find out that an Antichrist figure has spread unspeakable evil -- including to your loved ones -- all while wearing your face.
He's going to leave with his car before Gordon and the others can catch him for me. He's returning home and it makes sense he's doing it alone.
