not shoes.
Moving and still colours, very interesting idea! Maybe you're right, it's not about the shoes. Or is it about the shoes? 😉
Jeffries had red shoes in FWWM too.
Thanks, adding him to the list!
Louboutin's first name is Christian. Is she wearing a Chistian's shoes (in ref to the previous dialogue she had about the christian nation / thought shall kill)
And by the way, ZARA has copied the Louboutin shoes many times. Is Chantel wearing a doppelganger of louboutin? Is this little detail a commment on the luxury market's gormobozia caused by the fast fashion chains?
ZARA? A LAURA with the Z coffee sign (which looks like the black stripes on the red room)? Are the shoes Laura tulpas?
Finally, are these soles or "souls" Chantal is stepping on?
Also: I am just making fun of your shoe mania, all the above are a joke.
You mock but this is a show with a talking foot...

There's a 1948 film called "the Red Shoes", which as a classic film would fit in Lynch's logic. (Thinking of the Sunset Blvd. connection.) I have never seen it, but it's apparently loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale of the same name.
In the HC Andersen tale a girl gets obsessed with red shoes, which force her to dance continuously. The girl strays from religion, but she eventually gets her legs cut off and repents (MIKE anyone?).
Also, David Bowie's song lyrics and video "Let's Dance" features red shoes. The video is quite interesting as it has those weird dance moves on a patterned floor, backward film, a nuke and a general surreal atmosphere.
Surely no specific clues arise here but these I thought as some of the possible "red shoes" references.
Which is a reference to Nena's "99 Red Balloons", which is a song about nuclear war, which leads back to Trinity and The Experiment. Now it all makes sense :-/

I think it's interesting to look at the red shoes as that as well as Dorothy's red shoes. The fairytale has been a reference in many works, and the shoes here always stand for a prison, a curse of some sort. The person wearing the shoes is forced to dance til death, but there's always a way of breaking free from the curse. There's a ballet based on it as well!
In the "Let's Dance" video, the red shoes are an allegory to a seemingly perfect, meritocratic lifestyle sold by imperialism. The young aboriginal australian couple ends up destroying it and rejecting the lifestyle.
There's also this:
This is great! You guys are the best!
Oh I used to be disgusted
And now I try to be amused
But since their wings have got rusted
You know, the angels want to wear my red shoes
But when they told me about their side of the bargain
That's when I knew that I could not refuse
And I won't get any older
Now the angels want to wear my red shoes
I was watching while you're dancing away
Our love got fractured in the echo and sway
How come everybody wants to be your friend?
You know that it still hurts me just to say it
Oh, I know that she's disgusted (oh why's that)
Because she's feeling so abused (oh that's too bad)
She gets tired of the lust (oh I'm so sad)
But it's so hard to refuse
How can you say that I'm too old
When the angels have stolen my red shoes
Oh, I said "I'm so happy, I could die"
She said "Drop dead," then left with another guy
That's what you get if you go chasing after vengeance
Ever since you got me punctured this has been my sentence
And I won't get any older
Now the angels want to wear my red shoes
Red shoes, the angels want to wear my red shoes...
The treacherous murderous stevia-using (to her downfall) Lydia Rodarte-Quayle from Breaking Bad also wore Louboutins...
I find the red soles of Louboutins interesting 'cos I think it echoes a theory in evolution... making the soles of all your shoes bright red could look very tacky. They're saying 'even with something which could look so tacky, our shoes are immediately recognised as being very expensive & desireable.'
This is really similar to Zahavi's Handicap Principle, which has a peacock saying 'Look at my completely ridiculous tail - it could really get in the way, but I'm such a fine specimen of manhood I barely notice it - even though mine is the biggest & best...'
How about this: The series is receiving French tax credits and production funding. It is also doing subtle placement of French products.
