I'm pretty convinced that Tina and Audrey exist in the same body. Maybe Audrey's mind was damaged because of something Evil Coop did, and she created Tina to protect her mind. Now Audrey-person wants to "come out" again, but is very scared. The Charlie is a middle-man, a third person, that knows both Audrey and Tina. He is a link between the persons. In the first episode where Audrey appeared, Charlie was on the phone with Tina, and Audrey was desperate to know what Tina was up to. Audrey knows and feels some of the same things with Tina, such as love for Billy. In episode 13(?) Audrey said she feels she is someone else and somewhere else. All this would btw mean Audrey has a daughter (appeared in the Roadhouse couple of episodes ago) in addition to the son, Richard.
Last episode Audrey talked about feeling like SHE was someone else. Now, she is talking about CHARLIE being someone else.
And still, the door does not open. They are in a Different Place.
And Charlie was clearly faking the phonecall...
She(Sherilyn Fenn.) is one hell of an actress tho! one of the better ones in the series anyways imho.
It's possible that Audrey is fully conscious and mobile, and that what we see is her current perception of things around her. Notice how everything looks grubby, shabby and old. Now, compare that to how the woodsmen and their places look. Audrey's is a less extreme version, perhaps. Alternate version, she deliberately surrounded herself with all this stuff and her husband is playing along with it, in order to help her recover. If, that is, he really is her husband and not her doctor, playing a role for her benefit.
If that's so, it could be an effect of her assumed contact with Mr C, as if he's tainted her mind, her perceptions somehow.
Maybe the act of stepping through the door will open her eyes to the real world.
I don't claim any of the above to be the case; honestly, I have no idea at all what's going on. It's just something to consider.

Are you sure? I remember thinking that at the time and then on re-watching being reassured by the voices and dialling tones audible from the phone. Was a while ago though. I may have been more impressionable then ☺
Was Charlie wearing stilts? Something seemed very unnatural with his body in that scene.
Also hoping the "friend" from the Monica Belluci dream has nothing to do with the so-called "bosomy woman" who helped DoppleCoop locate teapot Jeffries by unlocking the door for him.
He has no neck
Maybe short too and in that case some camera perspective trickery may have been used to enhance the "DL-wierd effect"
I can't with the theory of the coma... it's just so unlikely even for Lynch to make me believe this.
I think She just never recovered after giving birth to a child without knowing who and when and how. This episode confirmed me that she's either dreaming or totally scared of going out
I haven't read the Secret History of Twin Peaks fully yet, but are there details of whereabouts of Audrey after the explosion? Perhaps Audrey hasn't been in coma for all of 25 years?
What baffles me is that if I recall correctly, this episode was the first time anyone acknowledged Audrey this season. (Richard to Mr. C) Has Ben Horne, Tina, Billy or Chuck ever mentioned a word about Audrey? If they haven't, wouldn't it hint that they expect her to be in an unconscious state. And maybe she has been for quite some time, which is why Audrey has had a close to none significance in Season 3.
In ep 7 Doc Hayward mentioned Audrey in his conversation with Sheriff Truman, saying she was in a coma.
"was" did not state "is" still.
I can't seem to find the discussion, but somewhere in here people talked about the growing character or people confusions surrounding Audrey. When we discovered that Chuck is a real person but is married to RENEE, someone said that Chuck was supposed to be married to Tina. So this added more confusion to Audrey's dialogues about people. It throws more fat on the fire that Audrey isn't in our universe exactly.
But I don't think either she or Charley ever said Chuck was married to Tina. When Charley started to call Tina in Episode 12, he told Audrey that if Tina's husband was there, he wouldn't be able to talk to Tina. So then Audrey thru in something like, "I don't think that Chuck would be much good because he is certifiable". But she didn't mean Chuck was Tina's husband. What she meant was that she had received the info--that Tina was the last person to see Billy--from Chuck. Chuck told Audrey that, and now Charley was calling Tina to find out if that was true. So then Charley says to Audrey, what, you mean Chuck told you that? In other words, Audrey was saying that maybe Tina wasn't the last one to see Billy since the source of the info, Chuck, wasn't the best source. But nowhere does either Audrey or Charley says that Chuck and Tina were married. She was saying that Charley might find out that Tina wasn't actually the last person to see Billy. It had nothing to do with Tina's husband.
So maybe these confusions about identities are not as big as we think. And maybe Audrey isn't in a coma. Maybe she just wishes she could go out with her friends but is horrified to do so.

Old, yes, but grubby and shabby? It all looks like very well-kept 1940 to me.
I was thinking more of her husband's desk and the man himself, more than anything.
You're right about the rest of the place, though.
It is supposed to be early October in Twin Peaks, correct ? Would people run their furnaces that early? I ask because it looked like Charlie and Audrey had their fireplace in full operation during that first scene in his study. I wonder if they are really in the Twin Peaks area. But Charlie did dial only 7 numbers on his old rotary phone, so they must be stateside.
i remain confused about the audrey scenes. chuck is a real person after all, which means also tina and billy are (?).

When Audrey said she wanted to go to the Roadhouse in ep 12, Charlie said there were miles of dark woods out there. My take on that is they are in TP or around the general area.
AFAIK it is Oct, but there's no telling when the Audrey scenes are taking place even if it is near TP.
