It was a little weird, don't you think? How easily that was dismissed? But I sure hope that the FBI gets a notice that someone has had a hit on those fingerprints.
It was dismissed a little to easily. Was one eating creamed corn? Buttered corn?
They are not the sharpest tools in the shed. No wonder that police dept. has corrupt cops in it.

I despise those three. I had a coworker once tell me that I don't suffer fools gladly. People who are mentally challenged, no problem. But people who are willfully stupid just make me crazy.
But your idea of the FBI getting a hit on the fingerprints is MAGIC. I think they will get it in spite of the Triumvirate of the Idiots Fusco! And that will take our FBI Blue Rose Group straight to Sin City.

Regardless of which town we are in, the sinister events seem to have a cloaking magic that prevents people from observing what is plain for us as viewers to see.
Those fingerprint scans should have raised alarm bells, just as Dougie in a near comatose state should have everyone running second and third medical tests!
To me, Lynch and Frost are making a powerful point in regards to our current social situation where the masses seem content to binge on mind numbing tv programing and social media content rather than contemplating the reality of the real world ~ that scene where the gang were watching MrC interrogate and kill Ray illustrates this perfectly.
In all honesty, as much as those three doesn't really strike me as potential nobel prizes, it's a completely reasonable reaction: the match is a missing FBI agent, which is already strange, but maybe not completely impossible; but also the guy has apparently been released from a prison in South Dakota two days earlier and that obviously would lead anyone to believe it's a mistake, they knew Dougie was in Las Vegas and couldn't have been in South Dakota two days earlier, let alone in a prison. While we're now used to unexplainable things happening in the world of Twin Peaks and people in the FBI or other law enforcement bodies having come to terms with them, it seems fairly straightforward for someone who (as far as we know) hasn't had any of those experiences to just dismiss this thing as a blunder.
As for FBI getting notice, as much as I hope they will, it has to be said that in Major Briggs' case the identity of the match for the print was classified, and that was probably the reason the Air Force received a notice. Coop's fingerprints were available so things might be different.

Agreed. We've only seen the Fusco's reaction to what seems like a ridiculous computer error. Maybe it will bother them that there's still no info on Dougie before a certain point? (can't remember the year, it was 12 years back I think.)
But even if it doesn't, we could still see Gordon and crew get alerted in the next episode that someone ran Cooper's fingerprints. Not only that but they would notice the correct print for that ring finger and know it was good Coop.
Their reaction wasn't just a normal "that's a mistake, LET'S GET THAT CHECKED." It was along the lines of "Eh, this is a mistake. Now let's just FORGET ALL ABOUT IT." They're like the cops on the Simpsons show.

I would think that Gordon would've made the missing Cooper case classified. They were notified when Mr. C's prints were run when he was arrested.
I hated this scene. It painted the whole episode black for me.
I understand: it's comedy. But as such, it should've been dealt with and concluded in the same episode. This was one of the lamest "payoffs" for a cliffhanger I've ever seen.
I'm still hoping for the FBI to get pinged on those prints as well. And I want Albert to tell those guys how proficient they are at their jobs.

If they were classified they couldn't have known who they belonged to and his whereabouts. The police in South Dakota couldn't get a match for Briggs' fingerprints at the beginning. It was Lieutenant Knox that told them whose fingerprints those were.
The fact that they trashed what would reasonably look like a blatant mistake doesn't mean that they aren't trying to check again imho.
It really ticks my wife off, but I've found that interjecting that overweight cop's ridiculously infectious, goofy laugh just lightens up whatever is happening at any moment in time.
My dog is mesmerised by his laugh. If I play it on a loop she gets hypnotised by the tv...

Just Google South Yorkshire Police. Then you'll know all about "not the sharpest tools in the box" are. Seriously, do it. I've had a bug up my ass about those arseholes for years.
I buy the idea the FBI will find out about the hit on the prints, but I could also see this still happening another way. Our 2 stone cold killers roll into town thinking Dougie is an easy target (remember our lady killer might want to play with him first), just to find out Dougie is a dangerous man capable of protecting himself or others. The Tijuana bloodbath that ensues leads our dynamic trio to reconsider who Dougie might be and then leads to contact with the FBI.
