Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Am I the only one totally underwhelmed by the return of Audrey? We've been anxiously awaiting her return for 12 episodes, and that's what we got?
I love the show, but I'm starting to get frustrated with all of these filler episodes where nothing really happens. Did we really need to spend like 3 minutes on Gordon Cole's date leaving the room? I feel like this entire season could have easily been compressed into 12 or so episodes, and been much better.
(Please don't attack me with "You just don't appreciate Lynch". I'm just expressing an opinion, and I really don't think this is Lynch at his finest.)
There were parts I really loved about this episode, but I understand your frustration. I've been feeling it, too.
Audrey was a total let down for me. So far, she's the only character that I don't like their updated story line.
I don't mind slow Lynch. Some of the slower-paced scenes in The Return have been memorable (in a good way). And I found some humor in Cole's escort(?) taking so long to leave. But what annoyed me was the looooooooong stare-off between Cole and Albert that followed. All so Albert could tell Cole information that we'd already known about from a previous scene.
Ugh.

Dude I'm with you .. This was an extremely frustrating for me .. I thought at the very least I would get an answer about Desmond .. all I got was more confusion ..
Audrey I think doesn't have any idea what the hell is going on .. I don't even know if she knows about Richard .. is he even her son?? .. it seems like that way. I mean not her father or even Truman said .. hey maybe you should call Audrey give her a heads up??or hey Ben does Audrey know what's going on?? no one even mentions her and then when we get her .. she is told by her husband someone name chuck took the truck.. ??
No, I felt Albert's frustration too. I also wanted to choke the French chick.
I felt too confused by the conversation to feel the impact of Audrey's return.
But the long pauses, drawn out scenes with Gordon's mis-hearing and bad joke telling really had me laughing the whole time. I think it just depends on your sense of humor if you find that all funny. I empathized with Albert's patient, blank stares and enjoyed Cole's antics. I think I've been on both sides.
The only reason I don't like seeing some of these slow going conversations, like Ben Horne and Sheriff Truman's conversation, is that I know the hour will fly by and I'll be wanting more.

Honestly we haven't gotten a whole lot of information about Audrey in any of the episodes.. all we knew is she survived the explosion.. so there really isn't any updated storyline to speak of .. we don't know how long she was in a coma?? Hell she could of woken up a year ago for all we know .. and why did she marry this dude ?? Why doesn't she know who Richard is?? Why is he chuck?? Is Richard even her son?? Too many wholes in her story
This will likely be remembered as the Sarah Palmer episode rather than the Audrey returns episode. The Audrey storyline doesn't seem that relevant to the big picture, while Sarah was setup to play an important role.
Grace Zabriskie was scary as hell.
When I first saw Audrey talking, I though she might be in an insane asylum and the whole conversation was a fantasy-role play with her psychiatrist. The I thought she was an actress doing a show. A far cry from the political activist who chained herself to the bank vault door.
At least we know she isn't comotose, but that's about all we know. Billy may be dead, that could be why her husband ????became quiet after the phone call. Not sure it has anything to do with Richard.

Actually I think Audrey storyline is leading up to something very important .. the one thing I got out of it the most is she doesn't seem to know who the hell Richard is.. wtf??

I thought so too! That guy behind the desk sure reminded me more of a psychiatrist than a possible husband for Audrey.
Seems a little bit odd that Truman would pay Ben Horne a visit, and not any of Richards parents

I don't think Audrey even knows about Richard .. she probably gave birth to him while she in a coma .. maybe c section and Ben and family kept it from her.. why tell her that the person who took the truck was someone named chuck ?? Unless they don't want to hurt her but still I don't think she knows about Richard .. maybe she isn't even the mother
Jocelyn's asylum/psychiatrist theory is both bonkers and possibly spot on. That scene makes a lot more sense when framed in that way. The "husband's" reticence to leave. His playing for time by making the call. The "papers" that he doesn't want to sign. We're led to assume they are divorce papers (and Audrey, in a deluded state, may think they are), but they could be discharge papers.
Very interesting possibilities.

You don't have to sign discharge papers .. you can refuse to sign them.. I work in a hospital .. you get the discharge papers anyway whether you sign them or not .. I'm not saying the rest of the theory isn't accurate but their is something more to those papers
Only 6 more episodes for DL to tie these threads together. Unless of course some remain unresolved until season 4…
