What's amazing is how much division episode 12 has generated. More so than episode 8!
It's odd, because all in all it was a pretty down to earth episode 🙂
One thing becoming clear to me is how many people have a sense of entitlement about everything, including tv shows.
IMO, this was the only episode that didn't rate an 8 or higher out of 10 (I'd probably give it a 4 or 5). Frankly, it felt more like a bridge episode that was intended to put in a few subtle clues or story lines and provided answers to some of the loose ends but only time will tell.
It's my hope that much of this needed to be added and there would be no way to inject it into the final 6 without disrupting the continuity of the story or scenes. I've been fine with the Dougie journey and some of the other protracted subplots but the Audrey and Jacoby scenes were a bit difficult to endure - but at least the French lady, Gordon, and Albert had a few funny moments.
I wonder if anyone else had the same initial reaction in the Audrey scene when she was talking about finding Bill and the guy behind the desk hadn't identified himself as her "husband". That actor is featured on The Blacklist and is like a finder of information for Red on that show. At first I thought he was going to be the same character from BL.
Reading through some of the other threads I think it's not so much "You don't get Lynch" as "You don't get the format".
Just for clarity:
Of course it's not perfect. Nothing is, especially something as new and different as this. I don't think anyone has ever tried something as big and ambitious in visual media before now. The nearest I can think are some of the Bollywood movies at 4 plus hours and they're just painful. That said, I'll settle for not perfect but a damn sight better than any other tv show or movie - given the size, scope and complexity - over the run of the mill franchise show any day.
C.f. the metaphor of 'creamed corn' re: predigested content/entertainment, no?
Heh. But then, you just know we'll get labelled as elitist fanbois.
Yup, I'm afraid that, like Josie, I've already been written off.
I wouldn't say so but - and this is a reminder to myself as much as anyone else - we could all benefit from being more tolerant of each other's opinions, whether we agree or not.

Nonsense! How very dare you have an opinion that differs from that of mine own! My words are omniscient and that'll be the end of it. So there 😉

Lol, Ruskinowl. I have to say that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but some statements of opinion are more generative of discussion than others... (Recall "Lock her up!" and "Love trumps Hate!" and how little understanding either invited or achieved...) I maintain that it's better to contribute to this forum with questions, analysis, and interpretation than with armchair TV criticism, contrarian baiting or cynical hipster-ish "I'm already over it" assertions... Recall "This show is a dead shark" thread several episodes ago.
I think this statement of my opinion honors the value system of tolerance and pluralism this forum espouses. Others disagree, I gather, which I suppose proves the point re: the forum being open and tolerant as both a community of fans and a community of frustration/dissent.
Couldn't agree more about the sound design. I can't remember ever feeling like the sound was so much a part of the story as I have in TPTR. The fact that someone speculated that the sound of Jerry running through the field sounded like the voice of "the Arm" (a theory I do not subscribe to, personally) just means that DL is making us LISTEN.
Now I'm on holiday I have to watch TP on a tablet with headphones. Smaller screen, but a richer and more intense sound experience!!! Makes me want to watch all episodes this way!
I don't review movies I haven't seen nor do I review ones that I haven't finished. This return may be released episodically, but it's far from a standard TV show. And I refuse to pass my final verdict until the credits roll on Part 18. What I can say for certain is I'm not disappointed with the breadth of the mystery and overall design. And I'm very excited to see what happens next.

I find that as offensive as when Donna tried to act sexy by blowing smoke into James' face while he was behind bars, even though in reality it would have really stank. James was probably thinking "god, she's got real fag-ash breath", while Donna's thinking "yeah, I'm really cool, I bet he loves me now for doing that - smooth move, Donna Dawg."
