Did anyone notice the walls of the staircase in the Palmer house when Sarah opened the door?

It looks as though they are stained in some way (dirt, blood, ???)

Not sure if its just Lynch/Frost simply reinforcing Sarah as living a life of neglect, but it certainly seems no accident that we were given that view.

Scorch marks from where Phillip Jeffries has been entering at night and having his way with her after she falls asleep on the sofa watching nature shows.

How do you know it isn't consensual? I bet Sarah is a huge Bowie fan.

To me Grace Zabriskie is the best actor of the new series. Her shrieks of horror in the original series made my hair stand on end and her appearance in this episode moved me to the same degree. Her voice, her expressions, the staircase and the fan; I would have loved to watch a season 3 that dissects Sara Palmer's world. After all of the diversions and 2-dimensional characters so far in this series it was a treat to be transported back into the Palmer world, which was so much more terrifying and intriguing to me than what Lynch and Frost have introduced in the new Twin Peaks.
