The thing that evil Coop is looking for is both very old, and apparently very bad. I have my suspicions that it's the Experiment. And it would seem that it preceded the explosion in White Sands.

Considering that the symbol on the green ring is probably referencing the same thing, and considering that the ring was given to Native Americans long before being contacted by colonials and explorers, the "mother/experiment" is more than likely very old indeed. Probably a primal creature ... a "demon" perhaps.
I'd have to agree with all of you-it does seem to be the primordial evil from which all others spring. If a lowly Dugpa/Woodsman can bite a huge hole in a human's skull, I can only imagine what the "Mother" has up her sleeve.....(shivers)
It looked like a primitive drawing of an owl on the map. Of course, the owls hold a tremendous and debated position in the lore, so, maybe this means something?
I don't think trinity specifically created anything other than opening the space between the worlds and making it was to descend.
The owl symbol, owls (from the original series) and the experiment are all related IMO.
I'm waiting for an owl reference 🙂
