Why was Dougie/Cooper fixated on the piano player? Was he reacting to the song? If so, why? It didn't seem familiar to me.

Seen some places saying it was "Anne's theme" from the original series. I don't know the ins and outs of Badalamentis original score to confirm it though

There has been a great deal of theory about this. Some say it's a specific note, some say it's similar to Laura's them or to Under the Sycamore Trees.  There doesn't seem to be any final decision on this which means...... we just don't know.  🙁

And, don't forget, it might not "mean" anything... Déjà vu

He seemed to react to the music in the same way he did when he saw the flag. There was music during that scene too, but I thought it was only in his head. Maybe it wasn't and music get some of the old Dale back? It reminds him of a place where there's always music in the air? Maybe ??????? meant that when he told him to listen to the sounds and pointed to the phonograph. I'm talking nonsense, but yeah, the piano player definitely stole his attention and even the official page of Twin Peaks on facebook posted about that (though in the context of a post promoting the soundtrack).
