One thing I can't get past: If "the arm" can have a doppelgänger, does that mean MIKE and BOB can have doppelgangers too? Or The Giant?
It doesn't seem consistent with anything, but it obviously happened, so :\
If you recall from the last season of twin peaks we saw a lot of doppelgangers - they had clouded over eyes...
From my immediate memory, there were the following:
The arm
laura
leland
cooper
I would assume that anyone who enters gets a doppelganger... The giant possibly has one too but I don't remember ever seeing that.
Yeah I'm definitely on board with all that. I guess my question is, can spirits (BOB & MIKE) have doppelgangers? Because to me, it seems strange that "The Arm" can have a doppelgänger when it's not even a person (especially given that it "evolved" into a tree). So even if The Arm isn't exactly a spirit, it makes me wonder if BOB & MIKE can also have doppelgängers
Does this mean Windom Earle could still be alive? Could he be calling Cooper re being back with BOB?
Mike said we used to work together with Bob, so now? good Mike is helping our friends but there must be another Mike with Bob...
A doppelganger is a separation of one, it's what psychology calls schyzofrenia. I doubt BOB has a doppleganger because he comes from pure evil like the giant who's pure good. A separation is something belonging to men, to the limb we experience or can experience.
This is a beautiful and succinct explanation of the phenomena I feel. It seems to sum up the intentions of evil and dopples in this Universe.
The only spanner in the whole doppelganger stuff is that Caroline, Wyndom Earle's wife had one in the final episode of season 2 who spawned from Annie.

Thank you. I like the word you used, succinct!

I'm not sure that would be considered schizophrenia. Can you explain this more?

I'm confused about this. When did Wyndom Earl's wife appear in season 2? And what do you mean by her being spawned by Annie? I feel like I might have forgotten something very important 😀

I don't study psychology and i don't believe in its method so i won't go in the details. But i can tell you that "Dissociation of personality", which is a definition of schizophrenia, is something i can relate to doppelgangers

I take it back. I remember her appearing! I never took it as actually being her doppelganger though, because Annie replaces her.
It's not even that Caroline is there, it's that she seemingly, for want of a better word, spawns from Annie as they are wearing the same clothes. Every time I see theories about doppelgangers in TP it kills them dead.
Sammy that's a good catch and something to think about. To me the waiting room could be a theatre of the mind (with all its projections). This is how i see it and the implication in my theory is that Cooper could have made the connection (mirroring) between Annie and Caroline
