Who do we think this motley crew are? Aren't they a bit like the crew who once upon a time lived above a convenience store?
Otis - wears denim, drinks from a jar
Brula (or however her name is spelt) - is asked "have you got Ray etc. back there", like she is maybe holding them? Is she in charge?
Ray & girl (sorry, I can't remember her name, Darla?) - Up to no good. In contact with Jeffries.
Wheelchair Guy - Ray and the girl appear to give him a ticket? Money? On their way out. Any ideas what's going on there?
Weird looking guy - the girl grabs his hand on the way out.
Could be a 'drugs den' (wheelchair guy = the dealer?) or/and rooms-to-rent for drugusing/for sex? The name of the 'Madame' of the house is Beulah, I think. What do the end titles say?
Buella
And girl is called Darya

Great legs and feet! Lynch made some really amazing work there shooting that scene in the motel!
I noticed a striking resemblance - not so much in look but definitely in mannerism and expression - between Otis and "The world's oldest and most decrepit room service waiter" from the original show.
Not sure if it means something but I feel the similarities are to strong to be just a coincidence.

I wasn't the only one who thought he looked surprisingly similar to Signior Droolcup!
So.. Ray and Darya what business had together with Evil Coop?
Why Evil Coop went in the cabin in the woods and took them both?
Ray and Darya wanted to kill him because Phillip Jeffries told them to do so..

Also, it may be even too obvious, but, about the two other guys in there: the one on the wheelchair is clearly a Little Man with very small arms, while the other appears to be very tall, almost like a Giant. Not to mention that Buella has a very peculiar looking face, not unlikely some other character whose name begins with "B".

That's actually a very interesting observation. Note though that the Giant and the Waiter are "one in the same" whereas in the truck drivers' cabin, they're separate. I think it may just be a motley bunch meant to throw off perception. Mr. C seems to be there only to collect Ray and Darya, not chat it up and stay a while. I do like how it draws a similar parallel to the lodge residents.
@Aron C. Wade: oh yeah, absolutely - I'm not implying anything and I agree that it is, most likely, perception management or, maybe, "echoes" of some kind, but nothing more than that.
Of couse, we could speculate that - maybe - this motley bunch is somehow connected to the evil dopplegangers, the same way the Giant and Signor Droolcup "are one and the same". At this point, however, everything is just too open - I feel it's like trying to get a sense out of "Lost Highways" or "Mulholland Drive" while having watched just the first 25-30 min of those movies.
There's a lot about the types of chairs, the way Mr. C sits and stares at Otis in the next chair over, the glances and the pacing that echo the season 2 final Lodge scene. It's not a perfect match but it's enough to queue up the memory of it if you've seen it recently enough.

Same thing I thought in that image of her on the bed in the hotel.

And while Ray's eyes are pretty close to eachother, Daria's eyes are fairly far from another. Only obvious when they are on screen together.
Love how this scene mirrors the lodge scene with the Giant and Man from another place and everybody just waiting or hanging around.
